Interacting with foreigners can be a nightmare for those who do not speak their language, because of this; people have had the necessity of learning other languages. A good example of this is the requirement of a second language for many private companies that are hiring new staff, and education is giving children new opportunities. Daniel Macas said for “El Mercurio” newspaper that: Nowadays knowing the language is overriding for any activity and that English is basic for everyone and even more for children (El Mercurio newspaper). Also, Cuenca has increased the consumption of products from other countries. For instance, the clothing most people use are from companies like Forever 21, Sarah, American Eagle, Nike, and others; people are buying products that are not made in Ecuador. The products from other countries and the learning of a second and even third language show that Cuenca is globalizing little by …show more content…
The majority of foreigners that live in Cuenca are retired, better known as the third age. ABC News tells that retired foreigners spend approximately 100 dollars per month in health care which they consider affordable and high quality (ABC News). An average family of Cuenca do not necessarily spend money in health because of the services of IEES (Social Security Institute of Ecuador). This clearly shows that foreigners are important for Cuenca’s economy because they give more money to doctors, dentists and pharmacies. Another good example that proves that foreigners support Cuenca’s economy is the paid of taxes. The newspaper “El Tiempo” says that foreigners that have invested money in business pay their taxes and have all the legal papers on point. Paying taxes mean more money for the city and this is a way of development (El Tiempo Newspaper). It is easy to see that foreigners help our economy in many different

Money could be the most important thing that makes a nation really powerful and the US is an excellent example of how important is to have a good economy. Like Americans and other legal people, undocumented people help to hold and increase the U.S. economy in a positive way. [4] Cesar Maximiliano Estrada, Senior Managing Director and Head of Private Equity, in his article “How Immigrants Positively Affect the Business Community and the U.S. Economy” explains that immigrants have always been vital to the U.S. economy. In 2013, for example, immigrants added $1.6 trillion to total U.S. gross domestic product, or GDP. Economists have found that immigrants complement native-born workers and increase the standard of living for all Americans.
The current liberal government of the US gave people the opportunity to develop their businesses without regarding ethnic backgrounds and cultural peculiarities. Consequently, a rapid development of the Hispanic-owned businesses is a result of the political alterations on the territory of the US. At this point, some people are concerned by the fact that the new government might appear to be less tolerant to the businesses run by non-Americans. The development of the Hispanic-owned businesses is essential for the development of the Latino community in the US since it provides the representatives of this particular ethnic minority with the opportunity to attain the prosperity and fortune.

In Sandra Cisneros “Mericans” she creates a young character named Michelle who faces cultural differences and nonunderstanding, gender roles and culture stereotyping which can be exhibited in the real world. The author introduces Michelle as a foreigner with in her own culture, with this being said throughout the story Michelle seemed to be uninterested in her Grandmothers ideals and the principles of the Mexican heritage. The evidence behind this statement is; throughout the passage Michelle refers to her grandmother as being “awful” (Cisneros 93). I think a big reason for this is the fact that the grandmother has the children wait outside the church doors as she goes and say her daily prayers.
Methods and Sources In this paper, I analyzed and used various scholarly sources as my evidence to help demonstrate how Mexican immigrants have been an important economic group to Los Angeles. My mythological approach to this project has mainly included using academic books and a peer-reviewed journal article to help reinforce my thesis. The books I used were Latino Los Angeles, Steel Barrio, and Latino Metropolis. In these books, the authors have either discussed the patterns of Mexican immigration, how Mexicans have had a huge role in contributing to the Los Angeles economy, and the various types of job sectors Mexicans have worked in.
Being bilingual can be both useful or irritating, having the ability to communicate and understand several languages or being raised to be an interpreter for your parents. As you become more exposed to a variety of languages you can often observe how society treats certain languages. Martin Espada is a lawyer and poet who defends Spanish speakers in America, makes it clear about the role of language in his essay, “The New Bathroom Policy at English High School.” He asserts that the importance of language is created from cultural identity. When Espada shared what he learned about maintaining and defending Spanish he proceeded to say, “Defending the right of all Latinos to use the tongue of their history and identity creates in me passion for Spanish itself.”
On the other hand, in Richard Rodriguez “ Public and Private Language”, he talks about how people who are out in public they tend to speak in English and when they are at home they will speak in a language that makes them more comfortable. Both authors struggle in English but in different ways. Tan’s mother has hard time speaking English since it was not her first language.
