On September 11, 2001, many people woke up and went about their day as usual, unaware that the world's deadliest terrorist attack was just hours away. Records indicate that more than 1 million people commute to Manhattan every day, making up 20% of NYC’s workforce. However, on this day 2, 996 of the people that planned to go back home to their families at the end of the day did not return. At approximately 8:56am American Airlines Flight 11 from Boston to LA struck the World Trade Center's North Tower, instantly killing all 76 passengers, 11 crew members and 5 hijackers on board, and those in the World Trade Center above the 91st floor. At first, it was thought to be just a tragic accident. However, only 17 minutes later, at 9:03am the World …show more content…
For example, increased national security. The federal government of the United States quickly implemented the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in March 2003, based on the founding principle of protecting America from major foreign terrorist attacks and other threats by combining 22 different agencies and offices into a single department. Several years later, in July 2004, the US published the 9/11 commission report containing recommendations to hopefully give people “a better understanding of a landmark in history of our nation.” The attacks led to a significant increase in national security measures, including the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, the Patriot Act, and increased surveillance and security measures at airports and other public …show more content…
For example, Purdue created a scientifically based animation of the plane crashes to develop an idea of how to build more secure building structures in the future. Beginning with a Google Earth map visual of lower Manhattan as it appeared on Sept. 11, 2001, the video portrays “the damage caused by the plane as it hit the north tower, follows the disintegrating plane through the interior, and then shows the airplane metal, ignited fuel, dust and smoke exiting the building on the opposite side.” Shortly after impact, the simulation found that the airplane's metal skin peeled away, and it even shows how the jet engine shafts flew through the building like

Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked 4 commercial planes, crashing them into the 2 World Trade Towers, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania. 9/11 was one of the deadliest attacks on American soil. Yes, it was horrific. Yes it was terrible. Yes it absolutely was tragic.
On September 11th, 2001, four planes, hijacked by a group of nineteen terrorists, crashed in various locations in the United States. One in the North Tower of the World Trade Center, one in the South Tower, one in the Pentagon, and one recaptured and flown into a field. (“The September 11th”). After clean-up ended, it was estimated that about 2,606 innocent people had lost their lives. (“The September 11th”).
The 9/11 bombing caused dramatic changes in the lives of many Americans not only because of the sense of unity that came with the painful tragedy of the destruction and loss, but from the United States Patriot Act. The Patriot Act is a law that was passed just 45 days after the 9/11 catastrophe in the name of national security. The Patriot Act enabled investigators to more information possibly associated with terrorist related crimes.
Many events in history have left an impact on America, but 9/11 2001 had the most significant impact on American society. On September 11th, terrorists hijacked planes and crashed them in New York, Washington, D.C. and Pennsylvania. In this attack, many people lost their lives, and the government responded with immediate actions to stop the activity of terrorists. The events of 9/11 had a profound impact on American society because of how many people were affected and the subsequent changes in national security policies and public perceptions of safety.
The 9/11 attacks in 2001 were one of the most destructive and difficult times in the history of the United States. Since then many things had to change for the safety of the citizens in the United States, in order to keep citizens safe. These attacks were detrimental to our nation, but at the same time, really brought many people together in how the nation needs to protect each other together. With that being said, something needed to be done in order to promise that something like these attacks never happen again. In a time of hardship and a time where the world felt like they needed to feel safer, George W. Bush stepped up to do what is right for our country.
The events that occurred on September, 11, 2001 were among the most catastrophic events in American history. The events of the day were summarized as 19 militants associated with the terror group al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and carried out targeted attacks in the United States. Out of the four planes, two of them were flown into the World Trade Center in New York, a third one into the Pentagon in Washington and the fourth one crashing off course into a field. The attacks resulted in the deaths of over 3000 people and the beginning of a soon to come American counter terrorism policy and the subsequent invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. Although there are a lot of conspiracy theories around the real motives and players behind the attack,
The laws and regulations passed as a result of the 9/11 psychological attack by military personnel have helped American society since the United States government passed various laws and regulations. After 9/11, immediate action was needed to bring about change. The world has changed, so it won't happen again. This event opened the eyes of the world and made people plan and fight for the country. As it expands, the government has moved quickly to build a security system that protects our nation from large-scale foreign attacks by strengthening government, state, and neighborhood capabilities to prepare for, respond to, and recover from threats.
9/11 marked a significant turning point in American history and for the people of the nation. The impact of 9/11, its aftermath, and what it has done to America were all expertly explained by Frontline. After the United States was under attack Bush had no other choice than to claim war on the countries who were involved in the attack and the terrorist groups as well. In an effort to stop additional terrorist strikes on American territory, the US adopted a more assertive and active foreign policy after the 9/11 attacks. One huge takeaway I took from this was the sense of America having unity after the attacks happened and how even other countries were also grieving with America.
Many laws and regulations have been made because of the occurrence that happened on September 11th, 2011. These laws and regulations have been both harmful and helpful to America Society in numerous ways. On September 11th, 2011, three airplanes were hijacked by foreign terrorist which planned to crash into the twin towers. However, one plan did not make it to the twin towers and later crashed into the pentagon. This was one of the most traumatic events that occurred in the United Stated.
The attacks of September 11, 2001 on our country was one of the most tragic and deadly days in our history. It brought a country together and the American strength of freedom and unity became a battle cry. After the dust had cleared, the questions came about that asked, how could this have happened? Were there not security and intelligence infrastructures and policies in place?
The terrorist attacks on 9/11 have caused many debates over the years since they occurred back in 2001. Two American planes were hijacked and ran into the twin tower buildings, another was hijacked and headed for the pentagon, but thankfully never made it. Thousands of Americans lost their lives on the days of the attacks and to this day the sorrow hangs with us. Security was a huge debate of the time because America is supposed to be the safest nation there is, so how did this happen? America had lots of changes to make the attacks on September 11, 2001.
“If we learn nothing from this tragedy, we learn that life is short and there is no time for hate.” This quote comes from Sandy Dahl , the wife of the pilot on flight 93. When thinking about 9/11 this quote comes to mind because on that particular day, the world was reminded how short life really is. This quote also intertwines with 9/11 because it teaches us how there is no time to hate, but to move forward and help each other hand in hand. Even though I was only a year old when September 11th happened, I want to understand this horrific event that went down in history of the United States.
The attacks killed 2,996 people and injured over 6,000 others. Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four planes. Two of the planes (American airline flight 11 and united airlines flight 175) Crashed into the north and south towers of world trade center in New York City. One hour and 42 minutes after the crash of the planes both 110 stories towers collapsed resulting fire and the collapsing and damage to the other towers. Including the seven world trade center tower which has 47 stories.
“Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch the foundation of America. These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent the steel of American resolve.” George W. Bush delivered this speech on the night of the September 11 attacks. The shattered steel of the Twin Towers, once towering the New York City skyline, forever changed America and its response to terrorism. The largest foreign attack on U.S. soil appropriately gave reason to Americans to recoil in fear and lose trust in the future, but in reality, the country displayed the opposite reaction.
