On September 11, 2001, many people woke up and went about their day as usual, unaware that the world's deadliest terrorist attack was just hours away. Records indicate that more than 1 million people commute to Manhattan every day, making up 20% of NYC’s workforce. However, on this day 2, 996 of the people that planned to go back home to their families at the end of the day did not return. At approximately 8:56am American Airlines Flight 11 from Boston to LA struck the World Trade Center's North Tower, instantly killing all 76 passengers, 11 crew members and 5 hijackers on board, and those in the World Trade Center above the 91st floor.
