There has been a major change in education brought by the technology and it has become a widespread phenomenon. The technology has included information and communication technology (ICT) in education system and has driven many lecturers of higher education institutions to integrate the activities of ICT in their teaching (Mohamed Amin Embi, 2011). Social constructivism refers to learning as the result of active participation in a “community” where new meanings are co-constructed by the leaner and his/her “community” and knowledge is the result of consensus (Gruender, 1996; Savery and Duffy, 1995). Recently, many educators have come to see the value of social constructivism as a foundation for the design of more effective online learning environments. Social constructivists regard learners and the social society as interconnected.
