Impacts of media to the society 1) Existence of employment in the media industry Behind the curtains of media there is: People. These people work behind the scenes and are involved in achieving the final product through various forms of media channels. There are designers, journalists, editors, copywriters, and distributors; just to name a few. Journalists are one of the many cogs in a gear; the gear being media itself. Akin (2005) says that events in the larger community, the state, the country, and the rest of the world are experienced through the eyes of a journalist. It is a terrifying truth that privacy is no longer existent in life. People are either being robbed of it or are happily putting themselves out into the spotlight for the world to see. TechTarget (2015) states that a social media policy, or also called a social networking policy, is a corporate code of conduct that provides guidelines for employees who post content on the Internet either as part of their job or as a private person. Hence, social media itself needs protection from the people, or rather, Terms of Use. Social media policies is in another word; insurance. Policies are like handbooks, guidelines or principles, all to ensure the safe use of social media websites and its contents. TechTarget (2015) states that the goal of a social media policy is to set expectations for appropriate behavior and to ensure that an employee 's posts will not expose the company to legal problems or public embarrassment. Roughly every social media policy restricts the user into disclosing any sensitive or personal information that might offend another user. For example, TheGuardian (2015) states Facebook published details of a vast experiment in which it manipulated information posted on many users ' home pages. Media through television, radio, internet and newspapers have spread information regarding the issues faced by world leaders in different countries. U.S.News (2015) states that The Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists, told The Australian newspaper that the world cannot ignore the plight of the more than 3,000 desperate migrants who have landed on the shores of Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand in recent weeks, often abandoned by human traffickers or freed after their families paid ransoms. Al Jazeera Media Network (2015) reports that the US President Barack Obama has said, that Myanmar needs to take seriously the issue of how it treats the Rohingya people, if it wanted to be successful in its transition to a democracy. It is clear that even world leaders are troubled by the plight of the Rohingya people and push for citizenship as they are worried for their human rights. Conclusion Truly media has been around since the dawn of time and it has its ups and downs. It is used for entertainment, news, projecting opinions and causing chaos.
