Impacts of media to the society 1) Existence of employment in the media industry Behind the curtains of media there is: People. These people work behind the scenes and are involved in achieving the final product through various forms of media channels. There are designers, journalists, editors, copywriters, and distributors; just to name a few. Journalists are one of the many cogs in a gear; the gear being media itself. Akin (2005) says that events in the larger community, the state, the country, and the rest of the world are experienced through the eyes of a journalist. The value of news is decided by the journalists and reporters. It is whether he or she decides to write it in black and white for the world to see. Designers are existent to ensure the publication is pleasing to the public eye and to ensure no page is overwhelming with news. Newsworthiness requires a valued judgment. Hence, the industry has editors. Editors are responsible of the overall content within the publication. Whichever news that is selected to go on pages or airtime is mainly decided by the editor. For example, Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, is the new public campaign coordinator of our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak. His first order of business was to investigate the plight of the Rohingya people who have recently been put under the global limelight.
