In this era of globalization, as a career worker, I think that appearance and personality do help us maximize ourselves in career building. No doubts that appearance and personality frame as children grow older. Yet the concept of them is quite difficult to define unambiguously. In my view, appearance is a way that someone looks and also an impression given by someone. Personality is the combination of characteristics or qualities to make someone interesting or popular. Thus, how can appearance and personality be maximized in career building? First of all, everyone has heard the saying “ never judge a book by its cover ” , unfortunately the reality is that people do judge us by the way we look. Good looking appearance seems beneficial to our careers. Some people tend to look at ours appearance and draw a short conclusion on us when we first meet. Besides that, Philosopher Johann Friedrich Von Schiller quoted that, “ Appearance rules the world ”. (Schiller, n.d.) It is certainly true when apply to our career life. To succeed in career, we must take care of ourselves extremely well. Taking care of ourselves requires to maintain a daily hygiene schedule. We have to keep ourselves clean and presentable, keep our hair clean, as well as dress up well. It takes time, effort, and a bit of money to pull that off. Clothes can get dirty very easily at work, due to the fact that I am continuously dealing with stock and various boxes/cartons which may be dusty. Not presenting yourself well at work can be an issue as it does not promote self-respect, and has a negative psychological effect on customers. People do not mean to have judgmental thoughts, but it is a natural instinct to disregard, or not trust someone dressed poorly, opposed to someone who appears sharp and visually pleasing. Customer perception majorly affects the quality of customer service. If one does not take pride in their appearance customers instantaneously think they do not care about their job and will most likely put off serving them to the best of their ability.

The way a person dress may or may not be connected to the type of person you are, In “The Minister’s Black Veil” by Nathaniel Hawthorne, Mr. Hooper wore a black veil to hide his sins. The appearance of someone may or may not be linked to personality because it could be based on religion and environment. The people from the church were judging Me. Hooper because it wasn't normal for people to wear that all day everyday. The people didn't take the time to listen to him and ask questions about it.
By being attractive I instantly become the center of attention, therefore, my confidence instantly rises. My opinion instantly became valued and I recognized how I was rarely rejected. According to Britton (2012), last 2008, YWCA USA developed a report Beauty at Any Cost wherein they discuss the consequences of beauty obsession of every woman in America. It shows that beauty obsession results from a decrease in the level of self-esteem. It also gives a problem to the Americans because it’s also putting a dent in their pockets. It states that because of those cosmetics many people have decreased the level of self-esteem because of those cosmetics.
I suspect most of the women pay more attention about their appearance. They are crazy about fashion clothes, nice high heel shoes and exquisite makeup which make they look more attractive. In fact, every woman have own unparalleled charm, however, they always ignore these characteristic. My personality can be describe as Introverted since I am reserved, practical and quiet.
