My father introduced me to the series and it has since strengthened our bond. My father is very different than myself but here we find a common joy. My father and I will make time specifically for sitting down together and watching Gilligan’s Island. This may be the only time that we spend together in a given day. I am constantly focused on either working or school and he has to work or do things at home but we are always prepared to come together and enjoy an episode of Gilligan’s Island.
The day I was first asked to play travel baseball changed who I am as a person. While playing for a fall league team, a coach from a travel team took notice in me, and he asked me to join his team. Little did I know, my acceptance of the offer shaped who I am now by giving me all kinds of character traits such as teamwork and responsibility. Another memorable event was my first home run. I remember that day as if it were yesterday, and my first home run will always be one of my happiest memories.

Baseball has had my heart ever since my little hands were big enough to pick up a bat. Recently, I experienced the most important moment in my baseball career to date on one sunny weekend at a baseball field in Cartersville, just northwest of Atlanta. On that sunny day in Cartersville, there were baseball scouts as far as the eye could see. Any team you could put your mind to was pretty much there in attendance. I remember this day perfectly because I had recently talked to Georgia Tech’s assistant coach about coming to watch me play at this game.

Everywhere you look there’s people sitting or standing cheering on their favorite team and player. Parents are lugging around bags full of snacks and blankets while girls are carrying around big bags of softball gear. You can smell the popcorn from the concession stand and the dirt on the field. It’s a beautiful day at the softball fields; 75 degrees and sunny! I was on a new team called Iowa Outlaws, and I wanted to show my team that I could help them.
