Flexibility – it is very important for a cabin crew to be flexible in nature. There are situations whereby the planned schedule may be changed due to emergency such as sickness of another member and a substitute is required. Therefore a cabin crew must always be on standby even in short notice to cover the situation. The demand and expectations of such role is very essential. Ability to follow procedures – Cabin crew must follow procedures devotedly. There are many rules and procedures to be followed in training, therefore it is expected that these rules are retained and followed accordingly. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: • Good listener – paying attention to what other people are saying, what are their thoughts and ideas in order to respond politely and appropriate. • Clarity and Briefness – when conveying a message it should be short and clear and understandable • Non-verbal communication – involves communicating in hand gestures, eye contact and body language • Friendly and respectfulness – individuals would be more appreciated when spoken to in a friendly way and being respected. It is one of the important skills for a cabin crew to possess. • Confidence – in order for other coworkers to follow instructions and believe in decisions made by a member, a cabin crew must always be confident with their actions and know how to be representable. • Empathy – to be able to understand and respect other’s point of views and respect their opinions regardless how it may sound.
