Importance Of Careering A Career

Having the right career is very important and can be a very hard decision to make. Many students struggle in making the right decision when choosing a career fit for them. When thinking of a career that would be right for me, I wanted to make sure I chose something that I thought was interesting and that I would like to do. Two careers that I have been thinking about pursuing are film directing or photography. I think these two careers would be the best fit for me because they are two careers that interest me and I think would be fun to do.

Photography can be a difficult field to be successful in because potential clients want to see work they would want in their own pictures. Although success shouldn’t determine whether or not to pick the job, I think it is important to think about the kind of lifestyle that comes along with each job. When starting out as a photographer, the average starting salary earned is $19,110 (“Photographers at”). Therefore, if I became a photographer, I would have to change my lifestyle based on how much money I spend on things like clothes. Furthermore, it is predicted that, new job opportunities are less likely in the future for photography (“Photographers at”). One reason for this is because with improving technology drone photography will become more demanding than regular photographers (“Photographers”). In other words, it will be easier to get clients in the future by using drone photography. Personally, I have never used drone photography before, but I think based on the idea of it I would like to work with drones to take pictures and sell products. That being said earning money as a photographer means getting clients to take pictures for or take pictures of. An advantage of being a photographer is working at home or in a studio. Although, a photographer will also travel to where their clients are located which can have its disadvantages. When arriving to the location, the plans could be completely changed and the photographer will need to think quickly about what to do. One photographer said, “I’ve scouted some jobs, done test prints, and arrived for the final shoot to discover that props and lighting were completely different from those agreed upon. Having tact and patience is helpful” (“Career”). I don’t think I would have a problem with this because I am a very patient person.
