The Mahavira Hall and the Dharma Hall was restored in 1997, but the building only reopened in 2002. You can see the difference of the building structure if you compare the temple currently standing to the temple in the 1800’s and 1900’s. If you compare the two pictures below, you can see the difference, with the temple looking much cleaner and modern after reconstruction, with more support pillars, proper flooring, an upgrade of the roof, new tablets hung above the doors, and a fresh coat of …show more content…
The tour guide did not seem to understand and embrace the Peranakan culture. It would not be possible for guides to explain to the tourists about Peranakan culture when the guides themselves did not understand the Peranakan culture. Perhaps the guide was not well-trained, as guides should be engaging and entertaining, not boring. Also, in the review, the user commented that the short cooking demonstration was stretched out to extend the use of time. This reflects poor time planning of the tour, which would disrupt the experience of the tourists. This goes to show that the different elements of the tour, if poorly executed, will result in an uneventful and inauthentic experience for the

Whoosh! Cars are going by like flies heading towards a picnic. People going to places that they never have been before. The things you see are billboard advertising what is up the exit ramp or rest areas are coming up shortly. What is the point of not being able to see wonderful attractions?
Not near as old as the first few buildings, it still holds a significant historical input and change within Iowa State University’s walls. There is a quote that tells of this historical value, “The History behind this building can be seen in the structures architectural brilliance and function as if it was still 1892”(Wordpress.com). This building was designed by Joselyn and Taylor of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and was constructed by Whiting and Wood (PDF file). (Describe the materials used). At first, both Angkor Wat and Stonehenge were built for more than 1,000 years ago as mentioned above. Angkor Wat was built in 1113 but it still managed to remain most of its shape until today (Kimsoryar Tour, 2014). On the other hand, Stonehenge was built since over 3,000 years ago (Nomadic Matt, 2008). Additionally, they both were once abandoned by human kind. According to Angkor Temple Guides, the building was abandoned by local people in the 15th century but it was restored back by French in 1968.
Trying to prevent neglected children and back-alley abortions, Margaret Sanger gave the moving speech, “The Children’s Era,” in 1925 to spread information on the benefits and need for birth control and women's rights. Margaret Sanger--activist, educator, writer, and nurse--opened the first birth control clinic in the United States and established organizations that evolved into the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. During most of the 1900’s, birth control and abortions were illegal in the United States, causing women to give birth unwillingly to a child they must be fully responsible for. This caused illness and possible death for women attempting self-induced abortion. Sanger uses literary devices such as repetition and analogies

In the film Coming to America describing the two cultures in the film are the African and American cultures from Africa and Queens New York. The African and American cultures in the movie are different in some ways but similar in other ways by the way the characters in the movie are all family oriented with the respect they show their parents and the way the parents only want what is best for their children. Then there are subcultures in the film that go a little further with style of living. The culture in Africa is that people are to wait on the royal family for everything they do, but in America, the family cares for themselves without the help of servants. The rites of passage are a cultural norm in Africa for the Royal family by having arranged marriages.
What evidence does the author provide? Kincaid provides the readers with strong evidence on why tourism is bad. She states in the essay that tourists can get trapped in the “grass is always greener on the other side” effect.
Introduction Culture and Subculture Culture is a particular group of people, defined by everything from language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. In the 50s-60s, the economic growth and the evolution of means of transport made going on holiday something accessible to a broader range of the people. Back then, the typical tourists were travelling to the same places, at the same time and to do the same things, because there wasn’t that much choice. This type of tourist had not established preferences, it was predictable, driven by emulation and had not yet manifested any special needs.
Film tourism is a blooming sector among the tourism industry. It describes the effects that film and TV-productions can have on our travel decisions as they inspire people to experience the screened places firsthand.
