I'm going to talk today about energy and climate. And that might seem a bit surprising because my full-time work at the Foundation is mostly about vaccines and seeds, about the things that we need to invent and deliver to help the poorest two billion live better lives. But energy and climate are extremely important to these people -- in fact, more important than to anyone else on the planet. The climate getting worse means that many years, their crops won't grow: There will be too much rain, not enough rain, things will change in ways that their fragile environment simply can't support. And that leads to starvation, it leads to uncertainty, it leads to unrest. So, the climate changes will be terrible for them. Also, the price of energy is very important to them. In fact, if you could pick …show more content…
For each American, it's about 20 tons; for people in poor countries, it's less than one ton. It's an average of about five tons for everyone on the planet. And, somehow, we have to make changes that will bring that down to zero. It's been constantly going up. It's only various economic changes that have even flattened it at all, so we have to go from rapidly rising to falling, and falling all the way to zero. This equation has four factors, a little bit of multiplication: So, you've got a thing on the left, CO2, that you want to get to zero, and that's going to be based on the number of people, the services each person's using on average, the energy on average for each service, and the CO2 being put out per unit of energy. So, let's look at each one of these and see how we can get this down to zero. Probably, one of these numbers is going to have to get pretty near to zero. Now that's back from high school algebra, but let's take a look. First, we've got population. The world today has 6.8 billion people. That's headed up to about nine billion. Now, if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health
In Robert J. Liftoff’s article Our Changing Climate Mind-set, he proclaims to the audience that it’s only after 4 catastrophic hurricanes: Harvey, Irma, Jose, and Maria that people see the immediate sense of danger that climate change is causing. Even before the catastrophic hurricanes that devastated millions of people, there were a drumbeat of storms, floods, droughts and wildfires that should have been a clear indicator of climate change. Although there are those that reject the idea that climate change is the result of human devices, awareness has been ever increasing thanks to the many scientist and politicians that she be a topic more heavily discussed. Although this came from a writer that isn’t that well known, the material was published
As being a child in the oilfield community for all of my life so far, the constant exposure has given unexplainable knowledge that I never actually strived for. I’ve known the process of practically it all, and I’m here to tell you, fracking and water disposal do not cause earthquakes in the extreme that is being spoken of all over the country. Fracking is the process of drilling into the earth with a high pressure water mixture of different chemicals and brine to be directed towards shale rock to eventually release the natural gas inside and below the rock, once the gas is released it flows out of the head of the well and into barrels to be processed and sold. Now there are many wells all over the USA, but only a few actually are a Class V
There was a vast growth in our quality of life with the help of vaccines resulting in a decrease in the number of disease being reported. With vaccines
For centuries, atmospheric carbon dioxide has never been higher than it is now. It has been increasing since the industrial revolution. The Earth's climate has changed throughout history. Many have tried to come up with solutions to fix this controversial issue but climate change is still a major issue and affecting millions of lives. To stop this drastic effect we have on the world we must get together with other countries to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, drive more
People complain about pollution from factories, cars, global warming, and the melting of polar ice caps, yet many people disregard the dangerous that come with fracking. Fracking is the process of injecting liquid at high pressure into subterranean rocks, and/or boreholes to force open existing fissures and extract oil or gas. Fracking is causing an epidemic economically and environmentally. Fracking is continuously destroying the earth day by day. From the endless fracking today’s economy is depleting.
If we require vaccinations, then we can finally get rid of all of the terrible diseases that can be and already eradicated. If we work together we can make the world a little safer for our
Climate change is believed to be the biggest issue facing the Earth. It is a long-term change in the Earth’s temperatures and climate (“Climate Change”, Dictionary.com). Our atmosphere is part of the reason why we can live on Earth with reasonable temperatures. Humans have been emitting unnatural greenhouse gases, like coal, oil, and gas. This is changing the natural systems that take place in our atmosphere.

Climate Change is something that we have caused because of our choices to burn fossil fuels, at some point we have to face the problems that we have created. The consequences of Climate Change are horrific and Climate Change could end our existence as a species, most people do take action against Climate Change except, The Government of the United States of America, refuses to accept the serious dangers of climate change and continues releasing propaganda on Climate Change, claiming its effects are minimal and that we are not causing it. Peculiar how almost every other government in the world thinks otherwise. The reasons we are heading in the wrong direction is because the actions of humans are causing Climate Change, and almost all scientists agree on this matter. Another reason is the that the government isn’t trustworthy in what they say about Climate Change, meaning what they say about Climate Change is wrong, and we should change our policy on Climate Change.
Nowadays, climate change is the biggest concern for the world issue that each country need to find the solution and take action to address that issue. Because climate change causes health problems, so health care is also a big problem, big concern for everyone as well. I. Climate change Climate change pose a serious, immediate and global threat to human health and responsibility for taking action to address this threat rests with every person, every community, every leader and every government around the world. That's because global crisis need global response.
