Chapter IV
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
Summary of Findings
This study provides students with valuable information and insight into the importance and significance of English language communication. The result in this research have shown that tourism students are intrinsically motivated in acquiring English Only Policy (EOP). This finding is supported by the responses gathered through the interview conducted with tourism students in the university. Researchers focused on some of the following skills: alphabetics, fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension (Kruidenier, 2002).
Chapter one was mainly concerned with the purpose of the research study with the purpose of the research study, discussions of the different variable, introducing

The first question asked about the difficulties and problems of the students in terms of speaking in English. The first question also asked about the their difficulties in expressing his/her thoughts verbally and practicing communication skills. This study found that most of them considers English as a difficult language to learn and are currently having difficulties in their English proficiency. Majority of the participants also doesn 't have any confidence to talk to their foreign classmates, some feels pressured and some feels an anxiety of getting bullied. This shows that majority of the students are having a hard time in expressing his/her thoughts in English verbally. The participants in the survey was also asked about the way they communicate in English and the answers mostly are through writing. This suggests that they aren 't really fluent in verbal communication especially in English. For the answers to the question that states that if they need to improve their grammar, the participants mostly chose to answer "yes" followed by the answer "sometimes" and lastly the "no". Only a number of them thinks their grammar are proficient while the majority thinks that they still need improvements. The current study did not ask the students to state their own reasons for their difficulties and instead had them choose on the stated ideas, it may be that there are …show more content…

The discussion in the current paper has aimed to respond to the research questions posed in the first chapter. The third question asked about Why do CHE students fail to obey the English-Only Policy inside the class? This study found that the reason why students failed to obey it because most of the students are lack of confidence in speaking English and they are scared that some of their classmates might laugh at them and might bully them if they can’t pronounce their English properly. And also they have some problems in terms of their grammar, speaking English fluently and their vocabulary. Our questionnaire asked also the students “Does speaking only English in your class makes you feel nervous?” 63% answered Yes while only 27% of the CHE students answered No, therefore the reasons are lack of confidence , nervous or having anxiety that their classmates/schoolmates will bully them because of their grammar, fluent speaking and
As a baseline, teachers should be trained to acknowledge the resources and backgrounds all children so that they may be able to recognize the strengths of non-native English speakers. A wholistic evaluation of minority groups is necessary for their successful integration in to the education system, if traditional practices are to continue in society. Many children in poorer areas are forced to “code-switch” between their home dialect and the dialect spoken in school. Teaching one “correct” way to speak and write can have major implications for a young person’s confidence and
In Dr. Louise Spear- Swerlings’ article, she stated that in Kindergarten through third grade, student should be taught five key elements for effective reading abilities, which are phonemic awareness, phonics knowledge, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. Dr. Spear- Swerling, continued by saying phonic awareness is well develop in normally achieving reader by the end of first grade and by the end of third grade they should have acquired basic phonics knowledge. In addition to children excelling to become good readers, the instructions should be explicit and systematic, following a logical sequence of instruction. For instance, reading a decodable text that’s consisting of words with one syllable before advancing to an authentic text.
Continuing to major section II, the researcher developed a theoretical perspective including a literature review. The researcher had to know what the current base of knowledge was to make a contribution to the topic. MSH and DMH websites provided information about their mission; as well as their services. With the subject of funding mental health care being a hot topic right now, the researcher was able to get a considerable amount of information from agency documents and reports; as well as the local media. The researcher also used scholarly peer-reviewed secondary sources from Belhaven’s online library databases.
Rocio describes her classes being very basic and taught in Spanish which made her feel very comfortable. But after realized that she wished the system would have challenged her in English so she could be prepared for further education instead of simple catering her language. She hopes they challenge other students because, in the long run, it’s worth
We also target writing skills, and math skills. The kindergarten students study phonemic awareness activities from Phonemic Awareness in Young Children. Students in grades 1st and 2nd are given a spelling inventory from Words Your Way and students are placed in groups according to the skills they lack. 3rd and 4th grade students are placed in groups to deal with their weakness on STAR 360 and the WV Summative Test. The students are in groups working on text complexity, writing, and comprehension skills.
Introduction Chapter three will provide the reader with research methods and procedures that were used to conduct this thesis. The research methods and procedure section will be described in details how the student researcher obtained the data. Research Methods and Procedures The significant aspect of the research process consists of various peer reviewed research journals, published books and web based news articles. All of the sources gathered to compose this thesis were within the last five years, on what prior researchers have done regarding recruiting Asian-American police applicants.
Some children can potentially have speech, language and communication needs due to another condition, such as ADHD hearing difficulties and autism. This is why interventions are extremely important so that this is noticed early on. If not picked up on, this poses risk of them falling behind currently and not being able to access the full curriculum. They may get frustrated because they don’t have the word’s or skills to communicate how they are feeling. Friendships with their peers will be hard to make/maintain as they will be perceived as being naughty and this will have a knock-on effect on their social situations.
In the essay, “The New Bathroom Policy at English High School”, Espada witnesses the hostile actions thrown to students at school who speak a language other than English. The students have spoken in Spanish to each other and the lunch people overheard them and automatically assumed that the students were talking unpleasant thoughts about them. They told the principal of the school and she agreed to prohibit Spanish at lunchtime. This shows that people don’t have the freedom to be able to speak their second language in public without wondering constantly if there would be any hostile actions towards them. I also believe that people shouldn’t be forced to learn English and they should be able to learn English when they want to.
The paper is purposely meant to critically criticize a nursing article entitled Promoting Urinary Incontinence in Women after Delivery authored by Linda Brubaker and was published on 25th May 2002 in the British Medical Journal. The article was picked since urinary incontinence is a challenge that most patients fall short of deliberate with the medical practitioners and clinicians thus rendering it a huge complication that is not often reported and treated (Chiarelli & Cockburn, 2002). Urinary incontinence is among the monotonous perennial nursing conditions that are visible in basic care practice. The condition is often popular compared to diabetes and other diseases that are considerably attended to.
2. After analyzing the student’s reading assessments, list two reading skill deficits and explain why you selected these as deficits using information from the reading assessments. Be sure to include assessment data in your justification. Skill Deficit #1:
Questions of abandoning or maintaining one’s home language affects education policy in all immigrant receiving nations. Because of the consequences of colonisation, migration, nation-formation, traditions of exogamy, and modernisation, some degree of bilingualism is typical of most people in the world.” Today the most advanced nations realise that they can no longer be ignorant of the languages and cultures of other people on this planet. This is why bilingual-multicultural education was initiated. It was believed that this approach will build closer ties between the students’ community, their language background, and the educational plan of the school.
First one is that activities should be appropriate children`s age level. Second one is that instruction should be purposeful and third one is that activities and materials should be integrated with other components of a balanced literacy programs. A teacher can teach identifying words, categorizing words, substituting sounds, blending sounds, and segmenting sounds by doing age appropriate activities with children. Teachers assess children by using screening test to determine the level of their knowledge about phonemic awareness and they use instruction assessment cycle are planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reflection. Phonemic awareness is important to learn how to read and it is prerequisite.
Students have difficulties learning when a class is given in another language or when
In the English learning literature, the development of a positive attitude towards learning could be attributed to Integrativeness, or the genuine desire to learn a new language so that one can communicate with the members of the community who use the language as their medium of communication (Dörnyei, 1998). However, as the world has become more borderless as exemplified by the EU and the ASEAN, other attitudinal factors were conceptually included. The additions were attributed to the changing of concept from ‘English is a second language to learn’ to ‘English as an international language’(Dörnyei & Ushioda, 2009). This resulted to the addition of other attitudinal factors that include Direct contact with English speakers (attitude towards actually meeting English speakers and travelling to their countries) ; Cultural interest (appreciation of cultural products from English speaking countries conveyed by the media); Miliu (the general perception of the importance of English in the learners’ friends and family) (Dörnyei & Ushioda, 2009). From the aforementioned attitudinal factors, the following hypotheses were
Hence, the students need to occupy themselves with more than one language so that they can be employed by the company, then the company have the chance to overcome the communication problem and achieve their organization’s goal. By learning foreign language, students can improve their intellectual development and have chances to discover other
