I believe this act was very necessary in keeping freshwater and the breathable air clean. The current events occurring in politics regarding environmental policy fuels me to want to try harder to protect the natural world. I want, even more so, to educate people about how their actions could be more thoughtful and help the world, and future generations immensely in the long
1.0 INTRODUCTION Green environment practices are essential in preserving the environment and its atmosphere from harmful hazards towards all the living things in Earth. Our actions towards the environment are very important today because future generations will see and observe by themselves as they learn new things throughout their ages. From this, they may gain new knowledge as they learn from their elders and put them into practice in their daily lifestyle. Some environmental issues happen nowadays, because many people tend to become unaware about what happen in their surroundings. Their attitudes towards the environment are one of the major cause, resulting in various issues happen in this millennium era.
2). The rainforests, which are being cut down very rapidly are home to about 80 percent of the vast different species on the planet (“The World” 2)! Estimates from the Stern Report show that deforestation is responsible for at least 25 percent of global warming causing, greenhouse gases, compared to transportation and industry equaling only 28 percent total (Howden 1). All governments from around the world must put stricter laws in place to stop this destruction of, wildlife nurturing, tropical rainforests before it is too late.
Environmental ethics is an ethics that studies the relationships between human beings and the environment. Humans is a part of society as well as other creatures, which includes plants and animals. These are an important part of the world so I think we as a human being need to respect and use morals when dealing with these things. From my opinion, the environmental ethic is very important to help us conserve our world and manage our natural resources to meet our increasing needs and wants. But I found out myself had a very limited understanding of environmental ethics.
Eighty percent of Earth’s land animals and plants live in forests, and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes. It is estimated that we are losing 137 plant, animal, and insect species every day which equates to 50,000 species a year (National Geographic). Orangutans, giant pandas, rhinos, and the Asian elephant are just a few of hundreds of endangered species due to deforestation. Removing trees thins the forest canopy which is meant to block sun rays during the day and holds in the heat at night. This damaging disruption leads to extreme temperature swings that are harmful to plants and animals.
The world is already dying and it is caused by us. In order to prevent that from happening or to stop this world from dying , we should not forget the traditional way because our ancestor know much better than us. They preserve the environment for us an we must also do that for the next generation but the things we are doing right now , destroy the things that our ancestors protected. Everything that we do today result to the global warming that we are facing right now. We must not throw our garbage everywhere.
But now, by the passage of time, steps are taken to prevent from this problem. Many organizations are working in rural and urban areas to aware people about the problems of environmental pollution and how can they participate in making their environment clean and healthy. These organizations provide guidance practical work to do. This report will demonstrate that how organizations are helping to better the quality of our environment and how industrializations, citizen and motorizations are trying to reduce the pollution. This report will discuss the problems caused by environmental pollution and solutions to reduce that problem.
Sustainable development is defined as development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own( Brundtland Report, 1987). It is an area of environmental philosophy that faces a lot of conflict due to the various subdivisions in terms of ethical perceptions. For traditional and religious views, some people believe they were given dominion over nature’s plants and animals to serve their needs. The techno-centric ideology is centered is centred on technology and it’s ability to control and protect the environment, it is almost arrogant in it’s assumption that humans have control over nature. The ‘ecological footprint’ (Gaston 2005, p.239) that resulted from humans’ greediness has lead over the decades to massive alteration in nature’s balance, as well as many recognizable environmental crises the world is facing today. By contrast, eco-centrism recognizes a nature-centerd systemof values and extends the inherent worth to all living thigs regardless of their usefulness to humans (Mackinnon 2007, p. 336).
Define the concept sustainable development and discuss a qualitatively different triple bottom line approach advocated by the underlining drivers for sustainable development Sustainable development is the development that ensures that the needs for present generations are satisfied without affecting the ability of future generations to satisfy their needs too (Brundtland Commission, 1987). The main aim of sustainable development is to control the current generations to preserve resources or use the available environment while saving it for the future generations, in simple terms current generations should use the environment responsible. Blowers (2013) mentioned that the environmental protection is the critical part of sustainable development
7.) SUSTAINABLE DEVELPOMENT AND ENVIRONMMENT: Without environmental protection, development cannot sustain. Environmental security is a part of sustainable development without which development cannot be a holistic thing. As we are already aware that the environment forms a very important part of our lives, it depends on us whether we want to protect it or abuse it. The concept of sustainable development came about as a method to protect the environment from ever increasing mistreatment by humans.
