Decision making is an important task performed by each one of us during various stages of life.
There are different kinds of decisions such as ; work , school , university and personal life decisions.
Nevertheless decision making is one of the major and essential aspects of management . It can be defined as " the process of selecting a logical choice from the available options".
In taking decisions positive and negative aspects of each alternative must be considered.
For powerful and valid decision making individuals are required to be able to estimate the result of each opportunity and to figure out what is the best alternative between the options.
Decision making is not as easy as it seems that is why usually decisions are made by groups

This process may be both formal and informal but the majority of the times it is formally structured with specific goals to achieve.
An important distinction should be made between group-decision making and teams , who work in a more cooperative way and where leadership roles are shared while groups deal with a single leader , moreover group members are required to have individual responsibility and liability.
There are different ways to approach group-decision making and the most used are : Brain storming , Nominal group technique and Electronical / Delphi technique used in cases of different locations.
Working with others is not simple in fact numerous factors are to be considered during collective work and decisions , cultural and geographical diversities may influence the group in a negative way and at the same time , age differences play a big role as well in affecting the group.
However once these negative aspects are overcome the result of the work a group makes is often very efficient and high quality , in fact most of the times group-decision making has a lot of advantages over individual

Group decisions are usually more accurate and creative and the final decision is always reviewed by all the members.
These features are the basic points of how a group should work and collaborate , by following them satisfying results will be seen.
Still among these great advantages , as everything group decision making can also lead to some disadvantages that should be avoided .
First of all members of groups must have an appropriate behavior within the others and education is the essential element that should be part of all the members.
If there is no complicity and collaboration between members then the possibilities to produce acceptable and satisfying results are scarce.
Time is another essential element in the management environment and group decisions usually take longer time than individual decisions so it is difficult to deal with groups if decisions are to be made quickly.
Having to deal with more than one person who often can share a different culture , way of working and communicating can be the cause of the creation of conflicts which may slow down the decision making process or that can completely sabotage the decision. So personal interests can have negative impacts on the decision making .It could also happen that the decision taken by groups do not correspond to the specific goal because of the different ideas each member
The final result will not always fit everyone’s liking. There can be a lack of trust among the group members. Finally there can be situations in where only experts about the topic should be able to decide. Firstly, reaching a consensus is not always a good idea because it will not fit everyone’s liking.
The main factor that may have affected our group and its overall unsuccessful journey to the summit is groupthink, which is decision making unconsciously influenced by other group members (Loughead, 2015b). Having just met our group members for the very first time, it was surprising how our team interacted with everyone, communicating and sharing their opinions freely. There was no one sitting there is silence or what appeared to be just agreeing with every decision. However, I wonder if the knowledge of how important and dangerous this journey was unconsciously prevented members from expressing their true thoughts or options in order to maintain our group cohesiveness and minimalize conflict. As a group, we collectively made decisions through discussion and problem solving.
Those who are excluded often feel extreme pressure to be accepted back into the group in order to escape their uncomfortable isolation. • Groups also often develop their own distribution of roles, with both leaders and followers. Other group members play either inhibiting roles, rejecting new ideas, or innovating roles, actively developing such ideas. • Another risk of groupthink, according to Janis, can be observed in groups that work together over long periods of time. In addition to reduced efficiency, they also demonstrate reduced “reality testing”, i.e., a distorted sense of reality.
In order to avoid groupthink, it is important to reassess the group through checking fundamental assumption behind decision making process and evaluating the risks involved. It can being with respecting others through examining he/she’s behavior to see whether or not his/her actions positively affects the group or not. This is part where team code of conduct come into play which indicates why it is important to have set of rules for members to follow in order to preserve functional working group. Additionally, it is important to asses the size of the team as problem with a large team involves with individual does not receive enough attention. Also, having the group to provide contingency plan can help the group from groupthink

A decision is the thought process of choosing between two or more outcomes that may or may not have a great impact. When thoroughly pondered, living life is fundamentally based on making the best decisions. Whether or not they are great or small decision making is critical. Often times, it is the smallest decisions one can make that impact the even bigger decisions later to come. Starting from the time people wake up in the morning, the will be surrounded by the most basic decisions until they go to sleep that night.
Team Analysis Paper: According to Group Dynamics of a Team Hiqmat Damilola Bello Western Kentucky University Overview of the team A team can be defined as the group of people that come together with a set of skills in order to execute a task or accomplish a goal. "A team is a number of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common purpose, performance goals, and approach for which they are mutually accountable." (Katzenbach and Smith, 1993) as stated in Levi, (2011) p 5. (Haynes, 1997) as stated in Levi, (2011) p 4 in her definition of teams stated that in order for teams to function effectively it must be given some freedom, authority and control over the tasks.
Decision making is always flexible and thinking of others’ need before the final say. They take time to build relationship and to know well a person so as to know and understand their needs or preferences. Companies in a Universal society such as
In regards to understanding the importance of decision-making in people there has been careful study and experimentation. Among the notable ideas produced by researchers in this department, is a study produced by
“One of the advantages of groups over individuals is that they collectively possess more information than any individual member does” (Bazerman 70). This is one of the main reasons working within teams can be such an advantage within the corporate world. Working in a group allows the decision-making process to access more information, more opinions and have a better opportunity to consider all research since each member thinks in their own way. This wealth of knowledge can be extremely beneficial in avoiding some of the issues we discussed regarding individual’s bounded awareness.
It suggests that people infringe the conditions posed by the rational approach, as they have limited information, limited ability to process it and often take satisfactory rather than optimal decision. The perspective is based on the research on heuristics and biases. Heuristics are “decision shortcuts”, quick methods such as rules-of-thumb and reliance on past experience often used in practice. Although they are useful can potentially lead to the same solution as more pondered approaches, under certain conditions they can Group and organisational perspectives see decision making as an organisational process, as such, it is influenced by organisational policies, procedures and politics. Supporters of this school of thought identify risks (e.g. groupthink) and suggest best practices to manage decision making in groups.
Everyday, people are faced with the task of making decisions. Most people decide when to wake up, what to eat, what to wear, who to interact with, and countless other choices. In a world surrounded by choices, people are confronted with easy-to-make and, conversely, challenging decisions. A decision can be influenced by one’s own experience, logic, and feelings. Making a decision is synonymous with a result; whatever choice one accepts, results in a particular outcome.
Due to past experiences, there have been both positive and negatives aspects when working with a group. The positives aspects were that we communicated in a lot of ways but mostly through social media. For example, we made a Facebook group and exchanged numbers in order to remind each other when things need completing. We also had a google docs document where we wrote our assignment as a group so we can help each other out when a group member was stuck. Deliberating and discussing is very important when it comes to positive communication in a group.
Having worked in many group assignments both as a leader and member, the most important aspect is how effectively the group is managed. I have significantly improved in my managerial skills after understanding the needs of different members
Managers has total authority over everything. Since the managers alone would be making decisions groups may feel demotivated and may have difficulty completing a task if it is not going the way it should be going stated by the manager, groups may feel pressured causing them to make
