Diversity can be defined as a range of different things exist together such as in society, we can observe one community with different races live in the same neighbourhood. They share same environment but with different way of upbringing that reflect their own culture. On the other hand, according to thefreedictionary.com, harmony is the state of being in agreement or concord. In general, harmony within diversity can be explained as a community of different races live happily and considerately without any misunderstanding. In terms of how harmony can be nurtured, from my point of view, parents play an important role to make sure their children are able to accept and appreciate how other families bring up their children. As Maya Angelou once said, “It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength”. In addition, people always say that every member of society should have common sense when handling with surrounding. But the thing is, common sense is developed through how one being taught by their parents since early age and which environment they lived in. For example, parents should let their children associate with other races by taking them to events that involves multi races such as cultural show. This is to let the children exposed towards other races’ cultures. Mass media also plays a big part in harmonious-society-building. Television shows or dramas should emphasise the importance of harmony within diversity,
”Diversity is about all us, and about us having to figure out how to walk through this world together.” Was stated by Jacqueline Woodson and is referred to millions of people from different religion, culture, color, etc. Diversity is just like a one of the most important spice in food . If there is no diversity than life will be so boring. Not everyone in a family has the same likes and dislikes; everyone is unique either by behavior or lifestyle or thoughts.
but not just as a whole but as individuals. Being able to open up to people who are different from you and not judging anyone different. The equality, unity, and freedom to express their mood, lifestyle, food, culture, and ethnicity freely and others adapting to it or be mindful of it. The open community of accepting everyone and not choosing or judging something for it’s difference. Diversity is seen in many ways and means many things.

Expanding Diversity Everyone has their story— females, males, Caucasians, Hispanics, African-Americans, etc. In A Separate Peace, it seemed to focus on one group: young Caucasian men. What if the novel expanded its content to be more inclusive of different groups of people? If the plot of A Separate Peace were to be more diverse, it would become more interesting and would offer a true depiction of what took place during World War II. Being inclusive of different genders would’ve made the plot more honest and intriguing.
Jennifer Newsom argues, successful business women are viewed as emotional, manipulative, and irrational. Her argument is substantiated by the laundry list of facts that are presented in the film Miss Representation. The film reveals the many circumstances that are a threat to women’s advancement in America. The film expressed the sorrow of our young teens; scared and teased for what they look like, and the sadness they have for being different from media ideals. Jennifer Newsom effectively convinces the audience of Miss Representation that the driving force for the suppression of women is due to media, myths, and objectification.
Diversity is showing variety, or being different. It is clear that this could easily lead to the downfall of the United States we know today. When two people have a disagreement, in a way, it’s diversity. But if there is too much diversity, people could develop completely different ideas, which could lead to arguments, and then to separations.
Many people have mixed opinions on required reading. Some may enjoy it while others tend to despise it. Required reading is normalized in today’s society, and many teachers assign novels for the whole class to read. If a student is uninterested in the novel, they won’t be as motivated to do work in school, so choosing the right book is important. It is necessary for students to be able to relate or find some sort of connection to the story or character being talked about.
The Diversity University event was not what I expected it to be. In fact, I had no idea what it was about at all. I literally went around campus to see if anything exciting was going on. I was curious and I saw a promotion board outside of my residence hall. Immediately, I walked over to the Rayburn Student Center where the event was taking place.
Diversity is the sharing of identities. It’s to appreciate others’ cultures. Without diversity in culture, everything and everybody would be the same. In a world that is steadily becoming increasingly interconnected, globalization has the chance to homogenize our culture. By being Vietnamese American, my own Vietnamese culture has merged with the American culture.

People of different races have their own respective cultures and lifestyles. Despite that, the first step to achieving racial harmony is actually to look past our differences.
