In life there are normally two types of people, people who make stuff happen and people who want to make things happen but never make them happen. Some of the most successful people in life are people who set goals for themselves and try to accomplish that goal or come close to that goal. They do this to make themselves feel better and say to that they have accomplished things in life. In life, it is always better to have a goal set for yourself because the goal will give you reasons to push yourself harder and make yourself feel better. Why would you not want to set goals for yourself if there is a better outcome? With goals being set they force us the achieve them and make us feel good about the outcome of our goal we set. This quote shows that setting goals is the best option out there but it is not easy. You have to stay motivated to be successful at that goal you want and you have to keep your eye on that goal the whole time. The path that the goal sets for the person is clear because they stay need to stay focused to be able to go the right direction. Beyond the right direction it also gives people hope on what the want to accomplish. Giving them hopes pushes them to be better and better to achieve everything and become the best of the best at what they want. People would rather choose a clear and easy path over a path that is foggy and has obstacles in the way making it harder. In the link Brandeis University says “The benefits therein include increased focus, increased motivation”(Brandeis). This quote shows with motivation and increased focus that there is better out comes and things turn out better. Sometimes the easy path is better because it is easy and could get them further in life. Like why take a hard path when the easy way is right in front of you? Yeah some success may come from taking the hard long way for a better out come, but if you are trying to achieve your goals and there is an easier way and gives you the same results take that path instead. So staying motivated and and focused and finding the right paths could lead to goal setting a lot easier because the path becomes more
A lot of people "'understand what it is to strive for something... to want to be someone you're not, to want to achieve something that's just beyond reach, whether it's professional success or wealth or idealized love - or a 4.0 or admission to [UNLV]'" (Rimer 1). Wanting to achieve something can sometimes lead to the extremes. In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby made some wrong turns in order to achieve his dreams and wealth, but still wasn't enough to be where he wanted to be. Having a green light or main goal in life may decide if someone goes in the wrong direction and ends up in the wrong place.
Why are hopes, dreams, and goals so key to life? [B] The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, War Dance and, Of Mice and Men written by John Steinbeck all exhibit the spiraling effects of hope and dreams. [C] Hope provides people with a sense of wonder and curiosity to explore and think outside of the box, as shown in the previously mentioned stories. [D] Hopes, dreams, and goals push people to explore life outside of their comfort zones. [E] People like the children of northern Uganda from the film War Dance, are shown touring through new and unknown paths on their trails of life.
Henry David Thoreau said, at one time, “If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” I would say that while this is correct by way of defining success as the result of action, life isn’t always at the control of the individual, and that a person who single mindedly follows a goal will find themselves exhausted, when a better direction can be taken. Thoreau’s assertion has truth: Nothing happens in a state of inaction. The life of a human being is like the plotline of a story, and unless the character does something, the plot cannot and will not move forward.
Hope can be a motivator; it helps us get through hard times and when things are terrible there is always hope that it will get better. People
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry once said, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” Throughout my life I have always set goals and worked extremely hard to achieve them. Planning realistic goals give me clarity on what I ultimately want. It makes me crystallize and articulate the desires floating in my mind. Setting goals have always helped me achieve my highest potential.
Ultimately, it's important to strive towards achieving the things you desire. Success often comes to those who put in the effort and work toward their purpose. In
Hope can help people through the darkest of times, and give them a goal for which to
I personally believe it’s better to aim low and be happy that I achieved what I wanted rather than plan too far ahead and be disappointed in having not achieved that specific goal. While this sounds like it would screw me in the long term so far in this life minus a few things that were out of my control then I have done a pretty good job so far. So now for the reason why I believe that you risk hurting yourself in the long road by planning ahead too far, the brain does better with short term goals, and finally why I believe this to be the case using examples from my life. I would also like to apologize for how dark this essay might get on that last reason and hope that this doesn’t off put me in your eyes. (talk about how depression started
“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.” This quote is by Thomas Jefferson, by this he means that people with the right mental mindset, to an extent can risk their health to get what they want. But when people don’t have the right mental mindset they may risk their well being just to get what they want. To achieve goals and happiness in life people to an extent may risk their own health, health of others and possibly put their identity on the line.
A goal is the object of an aim or desired result, but what drives one to accomplish them? Ambition causes people to strive to reach their intended goal. I had a goal to to make it onto a central Alberta rugby team. Although I knew I was not as strong, fast, or as skilled of a player as most girls trying out, I knew that if I wanted to be on the team, it would require a lot of hard work and many hours of training. So that’s what I did, Twice a week I would go to the gym, and I joined a rugby training program.
My educational goal is to earn a degree in Biology and Spanish from the University of California, Riverside, in hopes of getting a job inside the laboratory department at Kaiser. Based on labs that I have already done at the University, I found that I enjoy working in a similar setting. I would love to have the opportunity to shadow a connoisseur in a similar work environment, as it would be a valuable learning experience. I come from a low-income family in Oakland, California. The economic barrier that has restricted my family has prevented us from moving out from where we live.
I am a firm believer in achieving my goals because I know that they will reflect on my future. At times, I may fail but I do not let that stop me from trying. Instead, I let it teach me a lesson and push myself even harder to do better the next
"Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible", (Tony Robbins). This indicates striving to be successful even if it means failure. I plan on achieving my main goal so I can have a bright future in my career path. In order to achieve my life goal, I have already begun to work towards my goal and I plan to continue with an organized plan. Both short-term and long-term goals will help me set a better understanding of a successful future.
My goals have changed a lot over the last couple of years. Bouncing back and forth between majors and deciding if I even want to be taking college classes right now. I kept asking myself why I should struggle with hard classes when I have a good job right now. But then I stopped and repeated “good job right now.” My job as a twenty year old might support me right now but is it going to support me in ten or fifteen years when I’m trying to buy a house and support my family?
When I graduate high school, I plan on having future goals that I plan on achieving. My first goal is to go to college and get a degree. I plan on attending Purdue NorthWest majoring in engineering and minoring in business. This is my number one future goal that I need to accomplish because to be able to have a nice life, I need to go to college to support my future family. My next future goal would be get a starting job to be able to support my future family.
