For this essay I will write an article using a compelling argument as to why health and safety should be considered as an important aspect of managing any new or existing business.
Occupational health and safety are regulations and procedures intended to prevent accident or injury in workplaces or public environments. (0xford dictionary). The laws and regulations are in place to make the workplace better and keep workers, customers and the public safe.
According to (hse 1) The health and safety at work act 1974 is the primary piece of legislation covering occupational health and safety in Great Britain. The act sets out the general duties which employers have towards employees and members of the public, and employees have to themselves and each other. (hse 2). The health and safety at work act 1974 has 3 main objectives, secure the health, safety and welfare of employees, protect the public from any risks that arise from actives at work, and control all explosive, flammable or dangerous substances and prevent unlawful acquisition, possession and use of such substances. The health safety at work act 1974 is the primary piece of legislation and it has 6 main regulations associated with it. The 6 main regulations are, The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992, Workplace Health Safety and Welfare Regulations 1992, Display Screen Equipment Regulations 1992, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
