Don’t you like doing homework? Homework is the school assignments that a teacher gives it to their student to work at home. Homework is always a controversial topic over the years that homework is necessary or unnecessary for students. Most of the teachers think homework is helpful for the students such as homework is great for students’ brain, improving confident in students’ independent thinking, and gain more responsibilities of the students. In contrary, there are still have some people disagree with homework is helpful. According to “The Homework Myth” by Alfie Kohn, the writer has given some reasons to show the truth about homework; missing out on their childhoods, does homework improve learning? and does homework provide nonacademic
There are around 365 days in a year, and in a school year, there are around 180 days. From the beginning of the school year to the end, the most common thing that students least like, is homework. Coming home after a long day of school, then having responsibilities to do at home, not to mention some students have after school activities which take up around 2 hours if not more. Homework for students is a barrier that makes it difficult for them to have any kind of social life, or spend time with their family. There are many reasons why students shouldn’t have homework, during this essay people will learn why having homework isn’t helping the student, except making things more difficult for them.
Do you think kids should be assigned homework? Studies show that if kids and teens have at least 10 minutes of homework every night their test scores might go up. Also, even though kids say that they get stressed out most of them just want to get out of doing their homework. Not only this, but, they will get smarter or just stay smart. They don’t have to get smarter with every piece of homework they do, but at least they won’t fall behind on their work. In conclusion, kids should have homework.
Homework is used in a lot of countries and in others there isn’t any. Some people believe it helps improve grades and scores. Others think kids should not have homework because it doesn’t help them and use standardized tests to support them. Over recent years, the debate has gotten more attention as to whether students should have homework as homework has seemed to increase. Students having homework does not benefit them in their academic skills and should be abolished.
Homework is like a boat with a hole in its side if there is a leak in the boat then the boat is useless. The water will rush in and fill the boat with cold, dark water. The same goes for homework, it is useless. All the nights kids spend with hours and hours of homework, all the tears and stress are not helping kids in school. Numerous amounts of today's kids have excessive amounts of homework. Some children have extracurricular activities and some may even have jobs. It is difficult for them to juggle all these items at once. In other words, if students did not receive homework and were required to do other items, then countless benefits would be shown. Students attending K-12 public schools in the United States should not receive homework
The clock strikes 12:00 am and students are trying to finish their pile of homework due in the morning. Students are rushing to finish in order to get ready for the next day. Schools are assigning students a lot of homework, but the homework can do more harm than good. Negatively affect kids by sleep deprivation. Source of frustration and daily stress. Problems at the other end of the socioeconomic. Schools should not assign homework because it can lead to sleep deprivation, to frustration and daily stress, to unequal disadvantages for poor students without parent support and resources.
An average student would spend hours on schoolwork a day, which can be very stressful. A high school student will use half of their day around school relation. Almost all elementary to high school students will likely to agree that homework should not be assigned. The majority of students complain about homework yet teachers don’t usually understand why. While homework gives benefits to students, unnecessary homework should not be assigned due to the fact that there are enough school hours, it consumes time, and the development of poor health is encouraged. “Homework has been a part of students’ lives for so long that the idea of not doing it can seem incredible, surreal, or even impossible. But if [people] stop to think about it, the truth is that homework is not necessary” (Mathprepa).
If a person does not find something interesting or think that it will benefit them, they will not see any point of doing it. Many students don’t like to do their work because “They can achieve adequate grades without doing it, so they choose not to do it” (20 pros and cons). If a student does not find something interesting, they will create a hatred toward that subject. Homework has become that subject throughout schools and this comes from teachers forcing it on their plates. Also, students like to take the easy way out, showing that “Finding the answers to homework instead of figuring out the answers on one’s own is a constant temptation” (20 pros and cons). When students do not want to do something, they try to take the easy way out of it, which creates cheating and not giving a full effort towards it. This atmosphere of cheating causes life-long conflicts with work habits. In support of students, Veteran freelance writer James Atwater claims, “Instead of contributing to learning, it only threatens to blacken the association young people have with education” (Atwater). By homework giving off negative energy, it creates a mindset to not correlate homework with positivity and success. Negativity due to homework is not good because it makes them hate doing it and eventually hate
Homework does, in fact, encourage good learning habits. It teaches students time management skills and responsibility. If Atwater claims that he is too tired to do his homework, he should learn how to best manage his time. A student could come home and take a break (take a nap, eat a snack, watch an episode of their favorite show) before beginning his or her homework. This allows students time to rest and get ready to begin their homework. Once, the student begins his homework it is important that he takes breaks on occasion to keep himself awake and focused on the task at hand. All of these habits can be applied to a person’s future career. It is likely that many students will go on to have jobs that require them to put in time off the clock. If a student learns how to effectively complete his or her homework from a young age, then the transition from school to the workforce will be much
Almost everyday, students get buried with homework. The homework given is basically useless to many yet still taken for a grade. It is often believed that if homework is not taken for a grade anymore, then students will not do it causing them to score bad on their tests and their grades as a whole. However, in Dhahran High School Saudi Arabia, homework is counted as a learning behavior grade and not achievement. Due to this many do not do homework as often but study their own ways or work on their hobbies. Regardless, most students are still doing excellent on their tests and scoring well in the class. As a result, homework should not be taken for a grade in schools since it may negatively affect the students.
Homework is an on-going topic of debate that has been being questioned for decades. In my opinion, I don’t think that homework is essential to students due to the effect it has on your mental and eventually your physical health and it is starting to affect their school life. Is the amount of work we get actually helpful to students? Is it too much for students? How is homework affecting my child? These are some of the questions that have been asked by parents, teachers, and researchers alike; and in this essay I will provide the answer to all these queries.
Every day students spend hours upon hours doing homework every night and stressing out if they aren't able to finish it. The first form of homework was given as a punishment to the kids that would act up in class. The teacher would give them extra school work to take home and do instead of being able to go home relax and have fun. Although homework can help increase understanding of new topics this kind of practice is not helping students because it can interfere with sleeping, stresses kids and teenagers out and can cause depression, and even make a kid give up on school altogether.
Everyone goes to school, everyone has homework. Homework has been a topic of interest for a very long time. Many students think that homework is not beneficial. However, without homework people wouldn’t remember what they learned in class. Homework gives kids the chance to prove what they have learned. Homework is beneficial when you have the right amount of homework. With homework you learn life skills, and finally it helps you master a skill. Furthermore, homework is beneficial to students.
Whether homework is good or bad has been a huge debate among students, teachers, and also parents for many years. There are many arguments whether it benefits the students or not and whether it is worth spending so many hours on. Many parents have two very different views on whether they believe the amount of homework that their children receive is beneficial or not beneficial. The student 's attitude towards their homework can affect how hard they try on it and how much they actually get done. Homework can have its upsides to it but overall homework isn 't as beneficial as some people may think because students spend so much time on there homework they don 't have much time to do extracurricular activities and spend time with their families,
A reason that homework maybe necessary is coming from Brayden Mau, he said “Yes, because it helps kids learn on what they are doing and they can learn the material better.” One reason that homework may not be necessary is coming from Hayden Karpinski and Allen Leitner. Hayden said “No, We do everything in school that we need to know. Being at home is our own time, not theirs.” and Allen said “No, if you have questions you can 't ask a teacher.” So we learn in school and we can get help at school but if we 're doing homework at home you can 't ask a teacher for help. A reason that this supports my topic is because kids don 't have teachers after school so if they need help on something then they don 't have anyone to go
