As there are rising number of immigrant workers to Malaysia, illegal immigration is becoming a big issue for Malaysia. According to Rezouni (2010), he stated that the illegal immigration is defined as the migration of people across national borders without official authorization. This means that an illegal immigrant violates the immigration law of the destination country. An illegal immigrant is a foreigner who has entered a country illegally whereas legal immigrant is a foreigner who has entered a country legally but stays for a longer time than their visa. The illegal immigration also called as unauthorized or undocumented immigrants. In Malaysia, it is now to be estimated to have over 3 million migrant workers due to the rise in labour-intensive industries and it is approximately 10 percent of the Malaysian population. From the number, it is calculated to be over 1 million illegal immigrants in Malaysia, including 800,000 Indonesians, 100,000 Filipinos and 100,000 Bangladeshis. First, immigration has a demographic impact. Immigration will increase the size of the population and change the age pyramid of receiving countries. Migrants tend to be more concentrated in the younger and economically active age groups compared with natives and therefore contribute to reduce dependency ratios (Gagnon, 2014). Therefore, immigrant workers help to boost the working-age population. Second, immigrants arrive with skills and abilities, and so supplement the stock of human capital development of the host country.
