The existence of interest groups is a sign of a democratic society, allowing the people to promote and protect their interests when they are threatened. Interest groups are also one of the important ways for the people of Malaysia to make their ideas, requirements, needs and views known to elected representatives or for proposed legislation to be put forward to the ruling or opposition parties. Most of the people usually find an interest group that focuses on their concerns. Not all interest groups are politically motivated, but most of these interest groups might try to influence the strategies of citizens of Malaysia.
