Breakaway Bases Softball and Baseball are lesser on the scale of injuries during sports. This is because adjustments are always being made to the way the sports are played so they are safer for the players. Many of the injuries that do happen in these sports, however, are from sliding into bases wrong. When sliding, one throws themselves to the ground in an attempt to get under a tag. While doing this, many people have hurt their ankles, legs, or joints by jamming their feet into non-moving bases.
However, it is also important to note that a concussion can also take place outside of sports, meaning it can happen to anybody. For instance, there have been incidents where a person tripped while running, fell, and the impact of their head’s contact with the ground caused a concussion. Or, in a car accident many front-seat passengers, or even the driver, have slammed their heads against the dashboard/steering wheel, also possibly resulting in a concussion. Concussions when treated can be healed in a timely manner. Unfortunately, throughout history, there has been a tendency for people to overlook a concussion as a serious injury, therefore, making it more problematic than it already is.
If symptoms of a head injury are seen after an accident, medical care is needed to diagnose and treat the injury. Without medical attention, injuries can progress and cause further brain damage, disability, or death.

In order to be diagnosed with a concussion or brain injury, you need to have a neurological exam. This will likely occur in the emergency room by a physician. If they believe that you may have had a concussion or a more serious injury, they will likely order a series of more definitive testing, such as CT or MRI scans of the brain. A neurologist or radiologist will read the scans and determine the extent of the damage. Once it 's determined the person has in fact experienced a concussion, a variety of treatment options will be suggested.
I’ve been on the field plenty of times witnessing head injuries and the effects it does to them. My freshman year I witnessed a severe concussion. One of my teammates at practice was playing quarterback, running a routine play and one of our defensive guys looked to make just a regular routine tackle but our quarterback didn’t get up right away. In fact, he was out cold, there wasn’t anything about the hit that looked out of the ordinary. The coaches scrambled to get the trainer and when he got out there he went through a series of questions with him to evaluate his alertness and consciousness.
Concussion are created as a result of the brain being slammed against the skull. This can cause inability to think clearly, sleeping more than usual, easily upset, nausea & vomiting. After receiving a concussion it is extremely important to get lots of rest so the brain may have time to repair the injuries it has sustained. Head trauma would be treated similar to how a concussion would be handled. Whether it’s a concussion or head trauma it’s important to go to the doctors & have them confirm there is no serious injuries to the brain.
It is not necessarily heading the ball is what causes mild or brain trauma
Injuries in sports are inevitable, and can range in complexity. We would never know how bad an injury is unless we get checked out by a license medical professional. A concussion can range from mild to severe and was never a major problem in football until the last decade.
Head Injuries In American Football Since the beginning of American football, concussions have been a big problem with players in high school, college, and the National Football League. Concussions have led to the end of many players football careers and in some cases, their lives. People that are in college and the NFL continue, playing even though they are risking their lives just for a little fame. Today football players play the game to make money and just because of their love for the sport.

Playing hockey may cause back injuries as the years go on of you playing same with your joints. A way to eliminate these head injuries would be to redesign helmets and make it so that the helmets absorb more of the impact. This would reduce concussions, and in turn would reduce brain injuries that would impact the skills performed by the brain. Think about what happens to the brain on impact, it moves forward very quickly, and bangs into the skull. If there were more padding around the helmet then the head wouldn’t have much
Every winter sport has a big risk of hurting your head. “Helmets reduce the incidence of any head injury by 30-50%” according to Jasper Shealy, professor emeritus at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. When you are on the mountain, you reach higher altitudes. The UV rays are much more harmful then if you were at the base. So when the sun reflects off the snow into your eyes, that 'll hurt.
