Maintenance is the activities involved in keeping a machine or equipment in working condition to ensure the efficiency is retained and its life is increased. Maintenance is not only refer to repair the broken or destroyed equipment rapidly but is a management to keep those machines and equipments running in high capacity and produce products with high quality at low cost. Having high quality equipment will lead to high reliability and maintainability which ensure the organization’s productivity and equipment with high efficiency. A good maintenance not only build goodwill of the company but also helps to improve productivity and quality of products. Poor maintenance of an organization will often bring negative impact to it. The most common impact of poor maintenance is produce poor quality products. Quality of products relate directly to customers’ satisfaction. It is important in helping the organizations to achieve their goals and also to succeed. Operations Management is a set of activities that includes the process of transforming raw materials into product. An effective operations management can helps the organization to enhance the performance in process. From this assignment, we could know that Campus Café is a successful restaurant. The owner of Campus Café, Mr. David has implemented many strategies to attract more customers. For the products of the Campus Café, Mr. David provided affordable price of foods and beverages to attract the customers. While for the ingredients, Mr. David will make sure the ingredients are fulfil his standard of quality. Besides, flextime is used by Mr. David for the working schedule of his workers. The part time workers’ working time in Campus Café is more flexible as many of them are USM students. On the other hand, for layout design of Campus Café, to satisfy customers needs and also serving food in a short time, the distance of kitchen and pick up area are designed to be very close. A simple work schedule was set by Mr. David to his workers to ensure the efficiency of the process in Campus Café.
