What is mobile communication?
In simple terms, it is a wireless communication method used for transmission of data information via electromagnetic waves. A communication type that lets individuals to communicate and converse with one another whilst moving from one place to another, thus the name mobile. Some examples of mobile communication include cordless phones, pagers, cell phones, etc.

A cell phone is a portable device that does not require a wired connection to establish communication. The connection is purely via radio waves with the help of a wireless carrier network. These devices are used to place calls, send messages, emails, photos and videos amongst other functions. Mobile phones

So, in reality even if two cell phones, A and B, are next to each other, and if there is a problem with the cell phone tower or communication network, a call placed between A and B would not work. Figure 5: Simple schematic of cell phone communication networks

The biggest challenge in mobile phone communication is to transmit the data securely even though the distance of call might be thousands of miles apart. Often, a mobile phone carrier in one country might not have their network in another country. So third party networks need s to be used for such cases. SMS Communication
Another form of communication commonly used with cell phones is the SMS (Short Message Service). This involves a text message being sent from the transmitter to receiver. With latest advancements, messages can also be sent in the form of images and videos too. SMS communication is simple to understand and it’s similar to how a voice call is placed. A transmitter sends a text message which is transmitted to the nearest mobile phone tower and then to the core network. Wireless channels have the capability of travelling in a time varying and multiple path propagation scenarios. The medium of transmission in wireless channels is much less reliable than an actual wired channel. Multiuser interference is a major concern in wireless communication. However, there are plenty of advantages of wireless communication, the first of it being portability. Mobile users are now free to carry their hands free devices across various locations and still be able to carry out functions such as placing calls, sending data, video calls, attending meetings, etc. without the hassle of having to be in one
