The land of the free and the home of the brave, America is the dream for people everywhere. A place to make a name for yourself, where the unthinkable is achievable. Immigrants from all over the world travel days, weeks, and months to be greeted by Lady Liberty and create a better life for themselves. They leave their family, friends, and the comfort of their home to explore the unknown and diversity of America.
Being in America means being safe at all times. The soldiers risk their lives for us so we can have a safe country. Soldiers put their friends and families through something that they are not used to but in the end they are relieved that they are home and safe. America is free today because of our soldiers and how they take the courage and are brave enough to go to the Navy or Afghanistan. Most people think that they join just so they can get away from their town but they are joining so they can keep this country a better place and keep it a free one.
The simple and easy answer is, a chance at having a better life. I sometimes ask students why they came to The United States. For instance one young lady was from China. She had a bachelor’s degree, worked in an office, had her own car, and I got the impression her family was fairly well-off. When I asked her why she left her friends, family, culture, and what sounded like a comfortable and satisfying way of life she replied, “Safety, security.”

Many people are raised up by the idea that the society they live in always needs more adjustment, and other people around them are not always friendly. I am also one of those people. Since I was little, I was taught by my father not to trust anyone around, and not to pay too much effort into any kind of relationship. Even though I might not necessarily agree with him, I still followed his advice for years. However, I always ended up feeling lonely and depressed.
Moving to America brings great opportunity to an individual and their family. When my parents moved to America, success was within their reach. My parents could purse their education and soon find their career. My mother has always explained why she was so relieved when my grandparents first told her that they were moving to America. My mother knew that her and her family will be free, they would not have to live in poverty anymore.
My cousin experienced a very hard dilemma for a girl her age while going to school, she had a language barrier. When she came to America she was supposed to be in the fifth grade, yet they held her back in the fourth grade because of her language barrier. This made her very frustrated because she felt as if she already knew all the topics that were taught to her and since there was no help for teaching a student to become bilingual, it really did not make a difference to her for what grade she would be in. Having the language barrier was very hard for her to endure because no one else in her family knew English that well and were not able to help her. I even asked if my uncle, who was in the same grade as her would help her, but he did not want to help her which made her feel very
America... what does it mean? Why does everyone want to live here? What does it mean to me? The United States can be seen as a box of colorful pencils.
Abstract During the last decades of the previous century, immigration to the U.S. has grown significantly. Hispanics searching for better quality of life have had to pass through difficult situations, more than just a cultural shock. Many Americans argue that migration is not helpful for the growth of their country. Besides representing a professional rivalry, they use resources and public services which are funded by the American government.

It’s a blessing to be living in America because it is very beautiful and very safe as well.
With everyone now aboard the cruise ship, I can’t even hear myself think! The sound of adults and children overwhelmed with excitement and bursting with laughter fills the sea air. “We’ll be departing for the Caribbean islands shortly,” exclaims Captain George Johnson. This is my cue to start making way to my compact yet cozy room to unpack my belongings for my ten day trip.
