The definition of municipal solid waste is: it’s known as garbage in the USA or rubbish in the UK that formed by the public and it consists of everyday items for instance: product packaging, grass clippings, furniture, clothing, bottles and cans, food scraps, newspapers, appliances, consumer electronics, and batteries
These wastes formed in the houses and hospitals by the daily consuming and also it consists in institution such as schools and also in the commercial places like restaurants
List of the components of the municipal solid wastes:
1- Biodegradable waste: it includes food remains and kitchen wastes and also paper. In general, we can say the biodegradable waste includes any organic matter in waste which can give carbon dioxide after analysis and water and also methane gas. The most important benefit from biodegradable wastes that can be used for generating heat, electricity and fuel by incineration or anaerobic digestion
2- Biomedical wastes: all types of wastes that can be infectious, depending on a lot of researches biomedical wastes involve biomolecules or organisms that are restricted from environmental release, for instance: blood, sharps, unwanted microbiological cultures and stocks.
