A private tutor, who was also an American, was appointed to take special care of me to make me improve in my English language. I struggled for a couple of years until I finally managed to get a passing grade in my school finals. I was admitted to a University in USA for my graduation. I thought I could put an end to my English Language study but to my dismay, I had to compulsorily pass a subject which included writing in English to complete my graduation. A roommate of mine from India helped me understand the Basic English grammar which I had never learned with understanding earlier. He encouraged me to converse more and more in English and he corrected me, without insulting, wherever I went wrong. I felt happy and started building confidence. He forced me to write on different topics at the weekends and he would correct my writings. He made me write essays on topics like pollution, good manners, and cruelty towards animals and so on.
