My Success “The road to success comes through hard work, determination and sacrifice.” - Megan Dolce The day seems extraordinarily bright and beautiful. My body and mind seem highly energetic and in high spirits. I feel as if I had reached the skies. The reason for my happiness inside and outside lies in my “A” grade which I had achieved in my English course. This is a great achievement on my part as English had been a subject which I hated the most during my school days. No wonder I feel so excited on my grand success now. My memories get me back to my childhood days which are fresh and green even today. I was born in the beautiful city of Kuwait, an Arab country which lies on the Persian Gulf. I used to dread at the word of ‘writing task’ in English. I had never written words like “immediately and consequently” without error. My parents and I were very worried because only if I pass all the subjects in my final exam could I think of pursuing my graduation. A private tutor, who was also an American, was appointed to take special care of me to make me improve in my English language. I struggled for a couple of years until I finally managed to get a passing grade in my school finals. I was admitted to a University in USA for my graduation. I thought I could put an end to my English Language study but to my dismay, I had to compulsorily pass a subject which included writing in English to complete my graduation. But in America the situation was completely different. My course mates from different parts of the world were really good and helpful. They helped me a lot in my studies. A roommate of mine from India helped me understand the Basic English grammar which I had never learned with understanding earlier. He encouraged me to converse more and more in English and he corrected me, without insulting, wherever I went wrong. I felt happy and started building confidence. He forced me to write on different topics at the weekends and he would correct my writings. He made me write essays on topics like pollution, good manners, and cruelty towards animals and so on.
