1.3 IMPORTANCE OF RESEARCH IN CLIENT CARE. Nursing research is a vital component to the health care field. Nursing research helps in the lifelong care of individuals and is used to develop treatments that provide the most optimum level of care.
Nursing research focuses on developing the following areas:
- High quality management of patents during long term illness.
- Developing advancements that aid patients in recovery.
- Developing standard that help reduce the numbers of disease in the community.
- Promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing the onset of preventable diseases and illnesses.
- Helping to instill techniques and treatments that increase the quality of life in patients with degenerative diseases, as well as easing the transition …show more content…

Although during the early and mid-1900s few nurses contributed to this foundation initiated by Nightingale, the nursing profession has more recently provided major leadership for improving care through application of research findings in practice. The plea that each nurse must care enough about her own practice ensure it is based on the best possible information is not new. Recognition of importance of use of evidence from research in order to rationalize nursing interventions cannot be over emphases. Nursing research encompasses a holistic approach and views the treatment of patient, family members and caregivers as a whole. By utilizing this holistic approach, quality of care is enhanced and the patient will receive the best care at minimum cost. With nursing research, new changes will continue to be implemented and developed into therapies and treatments that will ultimately bring faster healing and better quality of life to the patients who need them most.

Meredith (2007), wrote that a great post on research methods often taught, seem to be taught because they are a requirement and not to actually inspire students passion for research. She was of opinion that lecturers should improve their method of teaching to help students see the practical application of research methodology.
1.7 Barriers to Effective Research Study Among Students
It is not sufficient to give nursing and midwifery students a few lecture on the process of research and then expect them to use that knowledge throughout their careers in an ongoing process of gathering and interpreting research evidence and implementation. Nurse educators should plan to start research class on time and also teach to inspire.
Students fail to recognize this fact that “it’s so hard when I have to and so easy when I want to” Annie (2010). Little thing that make a big difference is attitude.
Inadequate statistical data required by students researchers are not readily available, even where they exist they are not current. These sometimes make students lose their interest to
