The founding fathers of the Pakistan decided the parliamentary form of government- that is a democratic system-to run the affairs of the state. But since its creation for almost half of the time Pakistan has been controlled by the dictators. Even the period during which there was civilian rule the shadows of the military and other forces dominated the decision making process. This paper would try to reveal the issues and problems on the hands of which our political system has been playing. Whether its poor literacy rate, impact of feudal lords on the electoral system or the intervention of military, the state has struggled a lot to find firm grounds on which it can lay down the democratic system. Democracy is an ideal form of the government in which masses of the population has great to do in the internal and external matters of the state. Importance of the democracy can be guessed from the fact that in the countries where it works and exists fully well, they have well composed or disciplined states and mostly peaceful political, social weather grooms.
