Walt Disney once said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” This means that in order to make a change in your life, you have to work hard and have enough determination and strength to achieve it, both mentally and physically. This quote can resonate with many people, as it applies to anything that you want to accomplish. It can apply to goals in school, at home, and anything in between. This also exists for important figures in history.

Ever since I was a young child I knew I had one dream I wanted to turn into a realty. Some kids would answer when asked what they wanted to be when they grew up where, “An artist,” “A princess,” “Rich and famous.” But at that age, I knew I wanted to be a pediatrician. Saving lives and helping children was a dream I wanted to turn into a reality. At a young age, I was taught to work hard for anything you wanted to achieve.

Personal Development Plan A. Resilience and Self-Care Describe three ways you can apply strategies to increase resilience and self-care that will influence your professional practice in a healthcare environment. Speaking to a therapist is the first strategy I use to increase my resilience and self-care in a healthcare environment. Therapy helps me to gain insight into my emotions and how to manage them more effectively. Talking to a professional allows me to process my thoughts and feelings safely. Additionally, it will enable me to assess and adjust my responses to stressful situations.
It is worth it to dream because sometimes you’ll fail, but learn a lot along the way, you may get what you wanted and it’ll be worth it in the end and also, you might already have what you want and not even realize it. Even though you can’t always get what you want, you get a lot of experience either way. In Dr. Randy Pausch’s ‘Last Lecture”, he said “ experience is what you get when you don’t get what you want. “.
It is also key to be aware what we are or are not capable of in our work. It is important to continue to grow and develop personally and professionally. This is an ongoing process throughout our lives. According to Day, Halpin & Zaccaro, 2004, (cited by Share & Lalor, 2009, p123) for ‘self-development to occur, a person needs to become aware of his/her internal processes {thoughts, feelings, moods, beliefs and actions} and have an awareness of how these internal processes impact on others as an external process’. Self-awareness and self-development work hand in hand with one another, as do personal and professional development.
