Is physical exercise more important for older people than younger people?
Since the Industrial Revolution, the standards life of human beings have increased significantly because of the ample material supply and many great achievements, such as reaching the Moon and Mars, curing many deadly diseases and making the communication between people much easier, have been done by us. The development of medical technology and living environment has largely increased the lifespan of the elderly. That is why people will focus on the life quality of the elderly more frequently with the development of civilization. Exercise, as a way for old people to build them up, is increasingly talked by the society. There is no doubt that exercise is very important

To begin with, the reading passage points out that the site where the coin was discovered is located very far from another documented site Norse lived in Canada and the distance is too long to ensure that American people could have real connections with the settlements. However, the speaker points out that there were many other things which were also from far places presented in American site. So it is reasonable that Americans could bring the coin from other places. Also, many Americans liked to travel long distance within America to obtain some fun things and the coin was cool enough to be brought back.
What 's more, the author writes that no other coins were found at Canadian sites, which suggests that the Norse did not bring any silver coins with them to American settlements. Nevertheless, the lecturer says this does not have any necessary connection with the coin because Norse did not create permanent settlements so they might pick up all the other coins with them when they moved or when they backed to Europe because the coins were their valuable
The colonists of Roanoke went to Croatoan. When John White came back to Roanoke after three years of waiting in England, he found the island deserted. He found carved on a tree Croatoan. The colonists had told White if they moved they would carve it on a tree. He knew that the people of Roanoke went there.
In this set of materials, the author and the professor discuss the theory of the missing colonists of the Roanoke Island . The author states that the colonists moved to another island called Croatan, whereas the professor claims that this theory is not the most credible one. First, the author alleges that the missing colonists traveled to a neighboring island of Croatan. However, the professor argues that there is only one route to arrive to that place, and as there is no evidence that the colonists used that way, it is possible they decided to go to other location.
After three long years away from his family overseas, John White returned to the Roanoke colony only to discover a site that would raise questions for the next hundreds of years. Carved into a nearby tree of the Roanoke colony, the words “Croatoan” and “Cro” were the last shrew of evidence remaining of the Roanoke colony. The word “Croatoan” remains a mystery amongst scientists and archeologists today. The lost colony of Roanoke has developed many ideas and questions of the settlers’ location. Theories have developed over time but little facts are known about the disappearance of Roanoke’s settlers.
After researching the documents I have compiled several pieces of evidence. I read data set 3 and found interesting evidence, it says “English settlers first came to Roanoke Island in 1585. Their colony failed, however. They fought with American Indians and they didn’t bring enough supplies.” This supports my theory that the colonists ran out of supplies.
The implication is descendants of the colony still there today (Stick). One of the most famous theories is that the colonists were killed by the Native Americans. Theorists believe this to be true the leader of one of the Native American tribes was living within the same. The evidence that supports this theory is the dead body of one of the fifteen men who initially attempted to begin the colony of Roanoke.
He cites a historian named John Lawson, who talks about Native American folk lore surrounding the arrival of the British Colonists. In my opinion the use of folk lore shouldn’t be used in any evidence-based analysis; It’s unscholarly, and it doesn’t add anything to the conversation. In Allard’s final statement: “Although the fate of the Roanoke colonists may never be known for sure, it is clear that many factors—the difficult sea voyage, lack of supplies, poor relations with the Indians whose support they needed to survive, and the worst drought in 800 years—could have greatly reduced the odds of their survival. But people have overcome even worse odds before.
John White returned to Virginia in 1590 after an extended stay in England to find all his colonists missing and the word “CROATOAN” inscribed on a tree, but they were never found (Daniels,
The only evidence of the colony was the words “Croatoan” carved into a nearby tree. The “Lost Colony” is one of the most famous and significant English colonies. In the New World it was the first English settlement. The settlers attempted to meet ends with the local Native Americans and gained many new tactics that would later help future colonies and settlements survive. Unfortunately to this day, no historian has been able to pinpoint where the English Colony had disappeared
In this set of materials, the reading passage describes a certain theory about a mysterious disappearance, and the listening passage casts doubt on this theory by providing information showing that the theory is not credible. The reading passage explains what may have happened to a group of English colonists who disappeared from Roanoke Island in the late 1500s. Because the colonists carved the letters “Cro” on a three and the word “Croatan” on a fence post before they disappeared, a theory has been proposed that the colonists went to the nearby island of Croatan when they disappeared from Roanoke Island.
According to Klingelhofer, archaeologists have identified a site of a small Native American town called Mettaquem, which may have adopted some of some of the lost colonists. The historian stated, “It’s a very strategic place, right at the end of Albemarle sound. You can go north up to Chowan River to Virginia or west to the Blue Ridge Mountains. They were big trading partners with other Native American tribes.” This tribe definitely has the characteristics of what could seem like a “safe place” for struggling settlers.
New evidence found at Hatteras Island and Cape Creek, North Carolina proves that this theory has the most merit and is the most probable thing to have happened. In North Carolina, archeologist, Nicholas Lucchetti’s team found an iron bar with a large copper block that's likely from the 16th century not presumed to be Native American origin because they lacked the metal technology at the time. Using x-ray spectroscopy, a map drawn by John White that indicates a small, red and blue, four pointed star under a white piece of paper used to cover it up was also found. The map was drawn in 1585, two years before White became governor, in 1587. The spot was 50 miles inland, and most archaeologist believe site asked was the original destination for the colonists.
In the wake of building up the principal English settlement on the Island of Roanoke, off the shoreline of cutting edge North Carolina, John White reluctantly came back to England for supplies. Deferred by war for a long time, he returns in 1590 to discover the pilgrims are no more. For one thing, the Englishmen who returned to the site of the abandoned colony on Roanoke Island found the word CROATOAN carved in wood. The colony’s returning governor, John White, took that as a sign the group had moved to an Indian area called Croatan, which was occupied by the Hatteras Indians, who are ancestors of the Lumbees.
One of the reasons archaeologists assume the settlers went to croatoan is because they relied on them for food since they didn’t know how to farm the land (Heckscher). In addition, after stumbling upon a unique find dated to the 16th century, archaeologist Mark Horton explains that the evidence is the colonists “assimilated with the native americans but kept their goods.” Horton says this because the unique find was a piece of slate believed to be of european origin considering the natives didn’t have that sort of technology (Pruitt). The slate was found further inland in around the same area as a native tribe suggesting that europeans had lives there. Before sailing back to england, white left specific instructions on what to do if the settlers had decided to move the colony or if they were in danger.
INTRODUCTION: Attention Step: According to the article “Exercise Makes You Younger,” “Research shows that physical inactivity can cause premature death as well as chronic disease and disability" (54). Establish Need/Relevance: Nowadays technology and busy work schedules have prevented many people from including exercise into their daily activities. Many people think that it is too time consuming and rather not work
