INTRODUCTION

If we search back, we find that plants are as old as human civilization.They are used as a food, medicines, environmental maintenance and as for other purposes. There are many types of plants according to their uses. Such as, medicinal plants are used against different infections and body organ disorders. Herbal medicine are very famous throughout the globe due to its natural source and beneficial effect. As compared to modern medicine, these herbal medicines are easily available and have no side effects (Grover J.K et al., 2002).
Plants are playing a leading role in the economics and the development of a country as they are the basic raw material for the many industry like paper, coal, perfumes, rubber, plastics, cotton, wood industry and so on.Some medicinal plants produce anti aging oils and components as their by products like tea tree oil, terrapins .So cosmetics industry use their by products in their beauty products. …show more content…

Now, it is cultivated in especially in Pakistan, India, USA ,Eastern Africa, South America, Indonesia etc. It belong to the botanical family Myrtaceae .

There are many other scientific names of Eugenia jambolana like Eugenia cumini, Syzygium jambolanum, Syzygium cumini.
1.2: COMMON NAMES
The common name of E.jambolana is Jamon but in different areas it is called as Java plum, Jumbul, Indian Blackberry, Jamun, Jambol, Doo Wet, Black Plum etc.

1.4: FEATURES
It about 50 to 100 feets tall tree which fruits only once in a year. When fruit is mature its colour is purplish-black with mild sour and sweet in taste. Its leaves are green elliptical, smooth. glossy and oblong in appearance. There bark is scaly and gray in colour. They smell like turpentine. White flower blooms from march to may and are present at the tip of stem in cluster form(Friars Bay, St.Martin 2011 THE ELDER.)
