Bus companies are likely to earn supernormal profits due to majority of the bus routes in the UK being serviced by just one company. Therefore firms wanting to get in the market are unable to due to high barriers to entry and exit, high sunk costs and imperfect knowledge. This makes the market highly uncompetitive as the bus market is able to protect itself in the long run and gain market share. However supernormal profits depend on demand and the revenue earned by the bus market. The extract states that the bus fares don’t cover operating costs, this suggests that demand is low or the fare price has been significantly reduced due to student discounts or due to old persons bus passes which erode into the revenue, and this means that bus companies are unlikely to earn supernormal
Discussing the implications of free parking in the United States, Donald Shoup’s “The High Cost of Free Parking” is a work that successfully critiques a specific part of car centric America: free parking. In the first chapter, the readers are introduced to the “free parking problem.” Shoup demonstrates that off-street free parking requirements spread the cost of parking into a higher cost of goods elsewhere and further incentivize the automobile. Furthermore, through the common emphasis that parking must be free, curb parking with no monetary or time limit increases congestion and wastes travel time. By presenting the problems of parking in a way that can be understood by anyone, Shoup shows the vastness of the issue to an audience who themselves
In my opinion, Uber shouldn 't be banned because people just feel comfortable with Uber service, that is not only convenient and low-priced but also reduces the city traffic jam. First of all, imagine if you are stuck in snow and cold in a place where you don 't have access to any transportation system, it 's Uber that will save your life in the blink of an eye just by using your smartphone app. Moreover, there is no need to pay cash especially when there is no cash with you, so the money will be transferred electronically. Secondly, regarding Uber 's price, people particularly low-income residents can afford their transportation monthly fee with no financial pressure. The noise and inconvenience of these buses on narrow residential streets have caused inconveniences for citizens. Another negative externality the tech companies are creating is the effect of driving up rental prices within a walking distance of their company city bus stops. Customary taxi administrations are under a commitment to work under the limitations of enactment and directions, and (1) Uber is well known for evading controls it esteems ridiculous. This mentality has produced a great deal of contentions with nearby powers that have as of now prompted to various fines being exacted against the organization (Ha, 2013). This circumstance has demonstrated that the organization (2) is helpless against confinements that may emerge from new enactment, and this could be a genuine risk to its operations, particularly because of the way that these face-offs with authorities have as of now brought on a considerable measure of awful attention for the
4. Proposed Recommendations and Justification 4.1. Change of Business Strategy Given the company’s market position and the current industry conditions, it is recommended that Trans-Cab should focus solely on renting its taxis to prospective drivers and to create brand awareness among the public. Traditionally, taxi operators earn revenue through taxi rentals and by charging commission from taxi-bookings their drivers accept through its general packet radio service (GPRS) booking systems. However, with the introduction of taxi-booking platforms, such as those of GrabTaxi, commuters and drivers do not have to rely on the dated GPRS taxi booking services.

Another important issue that even students get late to their school and everything will not be in time. Congestion always happens when people go and come from work so employs play a big part in congestion and it happens especially in big cities as the streets are big and people have their own cars not like towns or villages. In big cities, people prefer to use more their own private cars than using public transport but in towns they prefer the public transport. So, in big cities there will always be traffic jam as there are so many private cars in the street. When cars are banned then the traffic jam would disappear and people will be able to arrive in time and won’t affect
