“For me sport was a religion... with religious sentiment.”
-Pierre de Coubertin
Sports play an important role in our life. The principal of the sports education was formed in the Greece. The history in the sports is very vast. The sports culture in ancient India was fed up by commanding religious sites. As stated under the Athaya-Veda , “Duty is in my right hand and the fruits of victory in my left". In terms of an ideal, these words hold the same sentiments as the traditional Olympic oath:” The body- way in India is defined as “one of the ways to full realisation." The games like Chess, wrestling, polo, archery and hockey were developed in India.
In United States of America the sports were not at it high value fifty years ago. At a percentage

According to me the word sport means community, leadership and teamwork. It makes a person physically fit. When we play sports we don’t care about the religion that our friends belong. The sport is the thing in which the religion does not matter. None can define sports as no one can define religion. Ninijan Smart had designed a seven section theory. In this the aspects are stated in which it is stated that how religion makes it religion within himself. It does not matter the clothes and equipments you wear while playing sports. There are many controversies between sports and religion when it comes to playing professionally. Higgs in 1995 stated that there is negative relation between Christianity and sports. In the year 1621, the sports were disapproved and all the copies on the sports books were burnt. Watson, N. J & White, J. (2007) John Paul II stated that “contributes constructively to the harmonious and complete development of man and body”. It has been seen by many of the athletes there believe in faith. Many of the athletes use their religion so as to get the benefit of athletic endeavours. There are many sports in which promote the religious practices. The sports players training sessions are noted, how they eat etc. There are certain laws present in each game. There are still controversies between sports and religion which would be discussed in this paper. Ninian Smarts has stated few commonalities between religion and sport seven dimension of religion in the year
Pierre de Coubertin, the reviver of the Olympic games was a big advocate of an “amateur idea”, he thought that by performing a sport professionally, those sportsman had an advantage to the amateurs. And that would
This statement could be related to traditional belief systems of religions and to sporting events, especially Saskatchewan Roughrider football. Within football, belief is an important part of the Saskatchewan Roughriders and culture. Every game, thousands of Saskatchewan people, hold faith and belief that their team is the best, that their faith will see them through. Overall, this concludes that both religion and sport have a recognised set of beliefs that its followers must adhere to. For instance, we can explore that Saskatchewan fans are holding faith in their team in games, just as Church participants are expected to look to their faith in times of need.
In the article written by Amanda Ripley “The Case Against High-School Sports” for The Atlantic magazine. The author exposes the importance that American families and communities give to sports in schools over other vital subjects for students such math, writing and writing. Ripley supports her argument by presenting a series of examples to support her idea. One of the examples the writer presents is how international students that come to America as exchange visitors are shocked to see the extent of attention and resources used to support sports at schools. It is surprising to them to see the amount of money and time invested in school sports, and how much devotion the whole community pays to those events.
As mentioned in the previous paragraph, sports and the culture that surrounds them almost certainly reflect each other. This is especially apparent in the 1970s when there were many changes in the ideals and mindsets of people all around the world, and we can observe in retrospect how these changes affected sports in that same decade. One example of an ideological shift in the mind of americans is the push for gender equality on and off the field. IN 1972, congress implemented a section known as Title IX as part of a large Education amendments act. This act forced schools nationwide to provide equal opportunities for women in athletic programs.
Students from outside of America are surprised by the ways in which sports are glorified in schools. “...nine out of 10 foreign students who had lived in the U.S. said that kids here cared more about sports than their peers back home did” (Ripley, 2). Jenny, a student noted in the article, mentions that things are different back in South Korea. Accomplishments in the paper usually celebrated are academic success, and soccer was played during free time. Compared to Korea, Americans spend twice the amount of time playing sports.
Everyone loves sports but it should be played carefully and responsibly. An athlete should always think before they act and not only help themselves in the competitive sport but their opponent as well while taking their full
Middle school students are competing in competitive sports which both have a positive and negative side. Some players say that sports can help people lose weight and keep active. But on the other half states that it can be dangerous and can cause future physical damage. Generally competitive sports can be fun but it can come with consequences of regret of young children 's lives. My reasons of competitive sports being bad are that it can take up the participants time and it can pressure or overwhelm them in a sense of them being stressed.
Athletics is ingrained in the human experience and is an integral part of American culture. Because of that, many of my weekends and after school hours have been dedicated to either watching a game or starting one with the kids in the neighborhood. Athletics runs deep in my family. My great uncle was a professional baseball player and my family, including my father, three brothers and a sister, are all very involved with the various team sports. It’s this immersion into various sporting activities that has led me to the understanding that engaging in athletics has a very positive impact in our lives.

Social Theories provides us with insights and explanations as to why people act the way they do. Sports is a human activity that involves physical skill and hard work. Sports is also governed by a set of rules and it is taken competitively. It is said that sports is taken seriously and is very important for athletes and even for the fans, some even say it is like a religion for them. Though not everyone in the society follow any sport, because they see that it has no relation to their lives.
Competitive sports provide a community which kids can work with and beat other teams with. “Playing a sport helps children develop social skills which would benefit them even when they grow older. Playing sports teaches them about teamwork and cooperating with others. They learn to interact with people from different ages” (Mahaseth). When these kids grow up, they can use these skills to be able to cooperate and talk with their colleagues.
Thus, the aim of the paper is to trace the popularity of sports in the United States rooted in its history, promoted by the political and economic changes, highlighted by the educational purpose, and grown up by the society 's needs. Historical, political, economic, and technological development, diversity of the US population, great attention to sports in the US educational system and mass media have caused great popularity of sports in the United States.
Sport for years has brought people together all around the world. Sport has the potential to unite people. The UN definition of sport is all forms of physical activity that contribute to physical fitness, mental well-being and social interaction, such as play, recreation, organized or competitive sport and indigenous sports and games. The Oxford English dictionary definition of sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. This shows us how sport is not just for competition, it is for fun and entertainment.
Not only can sports unite countries around the world, but they can also bring individual sportsmen and women together as a team. Sport allows team mates to form bonds that teach them to function as part of a whole, which is also a worthy skill to have in life. These bonds formed sometimes not only exist during the game but off the field as well. Sports can bring strangers
