And Chinese literary translation plays an important role in it. Based on the linguistic features and expressive features of Chinese, there is a natural link between translation and aesthetics in China. Since the 1990s, translation and aesthetics are formally used as translation studies. As we all know, due to the literary significance of The Border Town, many scholars at home and abroad have studied Shen Congwen and The Border Town for a long time, however, its translation studies especially English translation studies did not attract enough attention.
A dictionary, to some extend, can reflect the specific cultural background and cultural values of the lexicographer. Therefore, even in a particular field, different dictionaries have their own methods of inclusion, interpretation, and example. This paper, based on the Oxford Advanced Learner’s English-Chinese Dictionary and the Contemporary Chinese Dictionary, aims to researching the inclusion and translation of Chinese traditional cultural vocabulary. The former, whose author is Hornby, represents the western cultural values; according to his first-hand teaching experience, and in order to meet the special needs of non-English speaking learners, he compiles the "Oxford Advanced English Dictionary", which is the world's first "learning dictionary”. The latter, being the first of its kind in China that self-planned,self-designed and self-edited by Chinese English professionals, is a large comprehensive English Chinese dictionary, represents Chinese cultural values and plays an important role in the unification and standardization of modern Chinese, in the study and application of modern Chinese, and in enlarging the communication between China and other nations in the world.
