Repetition is a literary device that repeats the same words or phrases a few times to make an idea clearer and more memorable. There are several types of repetition commonly used in both prose and poetry. As a rhetorical device, it could be a word, a phrase, or a full sentence, or a poetical line repeated to emphasize its significance in the entire text. Repetition is not distinguished solely as a figure of speech, but more as a rhetorical device. It is very important for translators to translate repetition from English into Chinese in order to let the readers know the beauty of the English language. Waller uses a mass of "repetition" rhetoric, which not result in redundant words, on the contrary, it is the repeated words, phrases, sentences that caused the effect of the sweep. Thus, there are many specific examples can be used in the study of the translation of “repetition” rhetoric and here is one of examples in the novel.
