BRIEF
Design Task
The task in its simplest form is to conceive a building, a sauna with its various parts and functions as one complementary, harmonious structure. The sauna will be composed of different sections, each having a distinct function. I think it is important that a sauna should have a outdoor area, that is perceived as a essential part of the overall concept of the building. It is assumed that the users of the sauna will choose to spend some of their time outside - cooling off, socializing. The outdoors should be designed in a way that conveys the required messages of an area that is a integral part of the sauna.
An important part of an establishment like a sauna is that the functionality of the building works well with the different

The sections are differentiated according to the activities within them but will also strive for a complete and aesthetic architectural concept and design.
History
Because of the location of the sauna the history does not play as big of a part in the project as the future. Nevertheless it is important to appreciate the historic aspect of every location. At the moment Vanasadam is the largest port in Estonia with ferries travelling to Helsinki, Stockholm and St. Petersburg. The port has gradually relocated the cargo handling to nearby ports in Muuga and Paldiski. Tallinn as a prosperous place for a port is already noted in the 10th century, but records go back as far as the 7th century. The port used to be closer to the Old Town almost touching the city walls, but as the water level fell the port got further away from the Old town. It’s obvious that the development of the city of Tallinn was and still is directly dependent on the development of the port and vice

But I thinks it’s difficult to observe the “area of influence” in an environment that is yet to be built. Moreover it seems that nowadays going to a public sauna isn’t as popular as it used to be with private saunas in many households. Seems to me that it is a semi - public place that witnesses a great deal of frequent guests that come there only with one purpose. I can recognize the impact a club or bar has on a area, but a public sauna is definitely not nearly as prominent. It has to be assumed that because of its relatively small size beside the new masterplan development and the direction of the proposed design it will not be a blight on the whole
Surrounding Development The proposed urban activation in Wentworth Point area is surrounded by several developments include new local centre for Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA); Homebush Bay new bridge construction to connect Wentworth Point to the Rhodes peninsula; and high density residential in the west side of Rhodes peninsula supported by the existing train station to access Sydney CBD. a. Vision and
Figure 3 showcases this diverse change. During Pyrmont’s establishment this harbor was bustling with ships filled with cargo, smoke and men bustling around with workloads in trucks and carriages. Yet, it is now a trendy suburb where people with money live, 15 million apartments, leisure and corporate businesses, all making up a perfect city landscape as seen in figure 5. Large-scale infrastructure and property redevelopment has transformed Pyrmont into a desirable inner city residential suburb. It is expected to result in the residential population reaching 20,000 by
As a result, the Regent Park area becomes a more livable, mixed income community as it provides the shopping, employment and other services for everyone in the area. An argument against revitalization may be that the cost of approximately $1 billion is far too high, however for a twelve year project, it proves to be more economically stable. The addition of commercial areas creates more production of goods and services, and is furthermore beneficial to Toronto’s economy as well as being financially beneficial for the residents . To conclude, the Regent Park revitalization is a great opportunity to create a large cultural, social, mixed income society and enhance
Using terms and citing examples from the textbook in your essay, how does environment contribute to the design? Architecture can essentially be seen all around us, from the houses that we inhabit, to the bridges that we drive over, to much greater lands acquiring all of the early 1800’s cathedrals and 21st century sky scrapers. Often we just perceive what we can physically see for the moment without putting much thought into all of the planning and calculating that goes into properly constructing such architectural buildings. Architecture can be both a science and an art; however, it must first be a science to become an art, and then ultimately, both. To begin with, proper planning and calculations must first be made in order to determine if whether or not an architectural structure will be able to prove durable on the ground which it is made and at the location which it will stand.
Traverse City Michigan is a small town in Northern Michigan, with a port, an airport, a rail system running through it, and lots of roads. While there is most likely the most freight carried through trucking on the roads, I would like to talk about the shipping industry. Because Traverse City is located with access to the Lake Michigan there is obviously a great deal of materials shipped over the water. Water is the cheapest, besides pipeline, of the 5 major transportation modes; if a city is located on the water it makes sense to take advantage of it. According to the Michigan Department of Transportation in 2009 the port of Traverse City transported somewhere between 100,000 and 900,000 tons of freight.
PARAGRAPH #1: INTRO: The Crusades impacted many people and major religious groups negatively and positively from Europe to the Middle East. MAIN POINT A: Trade in science, ideas, and goods (positively/to West)
While the Southern Colonies were known for having numerous plantations, they had few towns and cities. Plantation owners wanted to use as much land as possible for growing cash crops and were not interested in building towns. However, by the mid 1700s, settlements along the Atlantic coast grew into large towns. These large towns all had the same thing in common--good harbors for trade. Port cities became popular when both buyers and sellers needed a place to exchange goods.
For example: In Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood, there is soon to be the development of a Back Lot with the hopes to attract tourist and create revenue. This is also in effort to utilize old factories and use them as film and production studios. Developments such as the “Eco Square” are also considering moving into Douglas park, another one of Chicago’s Westside communities. The “Eco Square” is a 419,000 housing development that is being built on the idea of green sufficiency and to house 150 residences over 5 acres of land. There is also a proposal that either the Hyde Park / Woodlawn area or Chicago’s UIC Flames campus might receive the presidential library.
A place can contribute to productivity and creativity, it can get in the way and limit efforts. A well-designed place can provide a nudge that guides users to good results and offer cues to support better performance. Lately, the open office plans have been very popular as they are supposed to improve efficiency by allowing for more interaction between office staff. A variety of spaces needs to be provided in offices, spaces for teamwork, standing tables, moving walls, comfy sofa everything.
The special thing about the shipyard that it is big and it has a open port to the main waters. It is also a good place to place war ships for the Navy.
The industrial revolution brought abundant material benefits at the expense of humans. Mechanisation had improved accuracy and speed in production of items. It was free from human error and business owners did not have to pay for employees. They did not have to worry about sick employees that would reduce the output of items. The more items produced lead to higher profits and potential to employ more workers.
In this essay, I will firstly talk about IKEA Singapore’s ‘espoused values’, its heavy influence from its founder, 20th Century Swedish politics and Swedish culture, and then talk about how those espoused values and thus, Swedish culture are reflected on the store. To have a well-rounded answer when talking about IKEA’s espoused values, I cannot discount the influence of Swedish, thus I will talk about how Swedish culture is also reflected in the store as well, and at the same time, identify the various cultural artefacts. Next, I will argue on the reasons why IKEA focuses on Swedish culture. I will then talk about the prominence of local culture in IKEA Tampines, and the interaction between local culture and IKEA’s espoused values, and conclude
“Biophilic design is the deliberate attempt to translate an understanding of biophilia into the design of the built environment” (Kellert, 2008). It involves building and landscape design that enhance human well-being by fostering positive connections between people and natural environment. It is an innovative design approach that aims to maintain, enhance and restore the benefits of experiencing nature in the built environment. It starts by observing the effect of the mutual interaction between the natural and the built environment. The learned knowledge is then reflected onto the design and construction of the built environment.
An efficiency of the transport that will improve the liberalization of the economy, the prospects for further growth of the industry remain strong. Seaport is plays a major role within the integrated of transport chains. The place of port is an interchange between land and sea which to transferring cargos and accepting ships. They are usually located in the ocean, sea, river, lake edge. The ports usually have a cargo handling facility such as cranes and forklifts for use in loading or discharge of vessels which may be provided by private interests.
