As the new instructional leader of the institution, I would have to set some ground rules to the plant. The School Improvement Plan (SIP) is what generally projects the direction of the school for a given period of time as an action plan. The new principal must have direct contact with all members of staff sharing the importance and purpose of a school improvement plan firstly. The purpose of the SIP is to improve the quality of teaching and learning process in the schools in order for pupils to attain maximum proficiency in all academic areas as the primary function of the school. Building relationships and a sense of community would be paramount into reforming the mentality of the school/staff who probably thought that the SIP is to be done solely by the school principal. “Knowledge creation and knowledge sharing is central to leadership, and information becomes knowledge through a social process”, Fullan, (p.7). Without interpersonal relations this would be defeating the purpose of coming together to write the SIP.
