Everyone has heard about it, many desire but few have it. Self-confidence is simply a belief in one’s own abilities or faith in one’s own ability to do right. It is extremely important in almost every aspect of our lives and people who lack in it find life extremely difficult and success unachievable. Self-confident people also enjoy happier, healthier relationships, have more personal achievements, and feel better about them in general. Jack Welch said: “Confidence gives you courage and extends your reach. It enables you to take greater risks and achieve far more than you ever thought possible”. A self-confident military commander will most likely win any battle because of his tactful planning, judicious utilization of available resources, compassion, firm leadership and admirable ethos. Troops would be comfortable with a commander who gives clear orders, holds his head high, answers questions assuredly and readily admits when he does not know something. During our Liberation War, Mukthi Bahini or Freedom Fighters have demonstrated their determination and resilience, through which they shaped the battlefield in length and breadth since 26 March 1971.
