The center span of the bridge can move east to west as much as 35 feet. This isn’t a back in forth motion, but a constant wind coming from the west will push the bridge east. The bride would “sway” slowly and not swing back and forth rapidly, and this only happens in such sever figures in high force wind conditions. With thousands of cars and truck using the bridge for transport purposes, it had to be designed to sustain a heavy load. Steinmen allowed for the steel superstructure to hold 40,000 tons of weight on the bridge making it a very

For example, I grew up in Houston my whole life. This city shaped my life as to what food I eat, where I hang out, and especially the music I listen to. In the past year, I have explored at least 40 percent of Houston, which to me is a big deal since I have lived here my whole life. My friends and I every week try out a new place to eat. We explore Houston by the various food trucks, food carts, and restaurants that are here.
In the novel Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya, the bridge is a structure that connects the town and Antonio’s home, this symbolizes a connection between the two worlds of danger and safety. The bridge is described as a connection or link to the town and Anaya shows this when he writes, “I took confidence from its song, and wiping my tears from my eyes I raced towards the bridge, the link to the town” (Anaya 59). This quote shows us how the bridge is the structure connecting his home to the town. The town is an unfamiliar place for Antonio, the difference in the town is dangerous for Antonio and the familiarness of his home gives safety. The bridge is not just a literal bridge, but a passageway between to the worlds of safety and danger.

From a very young age, I’ve always been interested in science and its ability to explain natural phenomena, so naturally, I have been attracted to the South Florida Science Museum since birth. It all started with a “mad scientist” themed birthday party I had at the museum in third grade. I remember being fascinated by the exotic oceanic creatures in the touch tank and the experiments, which I thought were magic (because how else could white powder (baking soda) and a clear liquid (vinegar) make a volcano?). I knew that when I grew up, I wanted to work at the science museum so I could experience this level of joy every day.

Architecturally, it is a large white building with small orange domes that surround the central dome. To access the sacred space within the temple, one must first take off his or her shoes, and walk up a flight of stairs to the information desk on the left. After speaking to the priest at the desk, visitors to the temple are offered an informational pamphlet with descriptions of the sixteen deities displayed and welcomed to experience the many rituals that are performed daily. The sacred space is a lofty white room that lets in much natural light through a series of windows adorning its right and left walls. Unlike the Hindu Temple of Kentucky, deities in the Cincinnati temple do not have separate shrines, but are instead displayed under an elaborate central shrine that stretches across the length of the room.
