Introduction The pages in the book were about if positive psychology makes us happy. I think that having psychology knowledge of how to make people happy really helps. I think that people can be happy without psychology knowledge but knowing the brain and what makes people happy can make you even happier. You can have happiness as an individual, but I think the happiest people can be is with another person. Stephen M. Schueller and Acacia C. Parks think that people that are less happy that are by people that are naturally happy can be imitated by the people that are less happy.
People who would say that happiness is more important would say that positive emotions have better health benefits than negative emotions. Happiness has the ability to improve a person 's health, which is a reason why some people believe that these positive emotions are more important to daily life than negative emotions. An individual would be correct to say that happiness can bring people better health benefits, but negative emotions are just as important. A person does not have to constantly be in a negative state for these emotions to be important. Begley uses Lincoln 's borderline depression and Beethoven 's melancholy funk to show just how even public figures utilized their negative emotions.
Are people supposed to be happy 100 percent of the time? While happiness is a key to living healthy, other emotions play a big role in individuals’ wellbeing such as: sadness, fear, anger, anxiety, and guilt. Being happy boosts one’s selfesteem, while being sad often makes one feel hopeless. People need to embrace their emotions rather than trying to conceal them. Everyone experiences different emotions, including: sadness, anger, fear, anxiety, and guilt at some point in their lives.
Having a positive attitude can make people less stressed during a time of conflict. According to the Clinical Practice and Epidemiology in Mental Health, “...optimists tend to use coping strategies that focalize on the problem more frequently compared to pessimists. When these strategies cannot be enacted, optimists resort to adaptive strategies that focalize on the emotions, for example, acceptance, humour and positive re-assessment of the situation.” Unlike pessimists, optimists are more equipped to unravel a dispute calmly and quickly. After people use healthy strategies, a conflict would not be as stressful as before. Likewise, in “Dear Miss Breed,” she got a letter from a little girl named Louise Ogawa saying, “This trip has made me realize the
Psychological well-being can diminish the negative outcomes of stressful life conditions. Therefore, high life satisfaction is associated with good adaptation and high mental health status. Engagements in various activities, integration with social life and positive life circumstances might be an important contribution for a happy life. As a result, like most of people I thought that happiness and productivity have a strong relation and that is why people who have no doubts, trouble and stress are generally more successful than people who have several difficulties about life. However, this stereotype does not have any strong explanation,
Milam P. (2014) says that spirituality can assist the public to take on healthier lifestyle practices like drinking less alcohol and smoking reduction. For some individuals spirituality provides the support that allows them to recover from a bad place into a more positive one where they can feel a sense of well-being (Nash, D. 2009). From literature and experience, we can see that spirituality has a function in many aspects of life that eventually add up to
Since peer relationships was built during this stage, it may last a lifetime. There are both positive and negative types of friendship where in friends are always there for them or there is a conflict and mistrust of friends. If there is a good relationship or positive friendship quality, there is a higher chance that the well-being and psychological health of an adolescent is good. It is one factor that makes adolescents feel satisfied and happy. It can also mean that the psychological well-being of an adolescent may be healthy.
The weight of feeling alone, coupled with anxiety, is very prevalent in society today and usually leads to short, dreadful lives. Volunteering is a way to reassure oneself that the good in the world, outweighs the bad. As PublicHealth states, “Furthermore, Research by the University of Exeter indicates that volunteers have a greater ability to cope with stress, greater resilience for recovering from health problems, lower rates of depression, and longer, happier lives” (“Volunteering in Public Health”). This implies that getting out and gathering with those around the community can improve an individual’s lifespan because they quickly realize that they are not the only ones with problems. People can use the fact that they are not alone into consideration and use the many opportunities available to help others.
4. Set Healthy Boundaries As you’ll begin to love yourself more each day, it’ll be easier for you to identify what is good and what is not good for you. In other words, the more you love yourself, the lesser you will tolerate other people walking all over you or disrupting your positive energy. You will begin to understand what you can and cannot accept in your life. Begin by journaling a list of all the things that are healthy for your mental and physical growth and set healthy boundaries with others.
Williamson explains that happiness is the true key to success according to research. Happiness can also help society as a whole. Happier people tend to live longer and have better overall health, found in more than 160 studies. They even are 50% less likely to have a heart attack or simply catch a cold. Being happy makes life all around better and leads the happy people to benefit society by doing things like vote and respect laws.
