One of the qualities mostly admired in leadership is stability. They provide and create a stabilising influence on others. They are trustworthy and you feel comfortable to build around them and with them. They are also leaders who provide and show levels of constancy and consistency that are greatly needed by individuals, teams and organisations. Lack of stability has negative effects on culture, productivity, trust, and makes it extremely difficult to retain experienced and knowledgeable personnel for long periods of time. Stable leaders know exactly where they stand in the organisation and with their personnel. They leave no doubt with others as to what matters and what is and isn’t acceptable. A stable hand from the top would always have a positive impact on an organisation. The following Pillars of Stability should be concentrated on in order to become a more stabilised leader: • True North: Stable leaders have an open mind and their values drive their actions. Sometimes you might not agree with a stable leader, but you’ll never have any doubt as to where they stand with you and vice versa. Stable leaders have clearly stated values which include holding people responsible and accountable to values which create a high-trust culture.
