Suffrage: Shaping one’s nation for the better
Voting is an essential element of democracy. According to The 1987 Philippine Constitution, “Voting is a method for a group such as a meeting or a electorate to make a decision or express an opinion- often following discussions, or election.” We can see that suffrage or the right to vote is guaranteed by the Philippine Constitution. It ensures that the citizens are given the chance to express their voice on an issue through choosing or electing their leaders during the election. Thus, voting is an obligation of all qualified citizen of a nation to secure the social, political and economic stability

A blog from the Department of the Philippines says that, “The Philippine political system takes place in an organized structure of a president, representative, and democratic republic wherein the president is both the head of government and the head of the state within a multi-party system.” And since our country is democratic, our political system is divided into three. First is the Executive branch which has the authority and responsibility for the administration of the state. It also executes or enforces the law. Second is the Legislative branch which has the power to enact, amend and repeal laws. The Senate and the House of Representatives are part of this. And the last is the Judicial branch which applies and interprets the law in the name of the state. It is headed by the Supreme Court which has the Chief of Justice. An organized framework of the officials in a country makes the jobs and responsibilities of the government possible because it is well-divided to the branch capable of handling an issue. The checks and balances between three main branches of government ensure that power is not abused and mistakes are corrected. Elected officials are mandated to ensure loyalty in their service according to the platforms they had during campaign and see to it that these are delivered well and on time. That’s why choosing the right leader during election promotes peace and …show more content…
For years, the nation suffers most economically when elected officials failed to deliver their mandate. Leadership also dictates the status of the international community in the country, this means increase investment and job creations. A government with good economic leaders ensures economic growth and increase in Gross Domestic Products (GDP). The National Accounts, Q3 2013 shows that Philippine Economy posts 7.0 percent GDP growth in Q3 2013. The articles state that the domestic economy grew by 7.0 percent in the third quarter of 2013 from 7.3 percent recorded the previous year boosting the 2013 first nine months growth to 7.4 percent from 6.7 percent on 2012. News in Philstar last January 2014 had an interview with Socioeconomic Planning Secretary, Arsenio Balisacan who said that, “The Philippines remains as one of the best performing economies in the Asian region in the fourth quarter of 2013, second only to China, which grew by 7.7 percent.” See? Through choosing the right people that will be leading our country expands our economic growth and secures our economic
All three branches have a purpose in the government and they work together so that they can have a good government without worrying about tyranny. The legislative branch gives all of their power to the Senate and the House of Representatives and they are supposed to make the laws and pass the laws. The Executive branch invests all of their power to the president and vice president, and their job is to enforce the laws. The judicial branch gives all of their power to the Supreme Court, and their job is to explain the laws to the country and make sure that they are Constitutional. They all work together to keep from making a tyranny.
The government is separated into three branches: Legislative, Judicial, and Executive. The Legislative branch makes the laws and according to Document B by James Madison, consist of a senate and the House of Representatives, which creates congress. The Judicial branch judges if laws are broken and the laws themselves, the Judicial branch is invested in one Supreme Court. The Executive branch, is the branch of government that enforces the laws, this category of government includes the president who can serve two terms of four years each along with the
The government created three branches of government, and they are the legislative, the judicial, and the executive branches. The delegates built the checks and balance system to keep the three branches in line. This checks and balances was built to make sure no one group became too powerful. An example is the president can veto any law, but congress can override the veto from the president. Congress only needs a
Women suffrage was a prominent issue during the 18th century. Before the issue arose, women had very typical characteristics and roles in society. They mostly stayed home and cared for their children and completed house work. Moreover, women commonly did not have social and legal rights. Their spouse was considered the brains and wealth of the family.
There was the legislative branch which makes the laws and it was made up of congress. Congress was made up the senate and house of representatives. The last branch is known as the executive branch which carries out the laws and is made of the president, vice president and the cabinet. The cabinet is picked by the president and that person is the leader of the U.S. The country needed a leader because the states were becoming countries.
This method of separation is known as “checks and balances” referring to the three branches of government the executive, legislative, and judicial branch. The legislative branch is supposed to be the stronger one. It consists of the Congress divided in two chambers: a House of Representatives and a Senate. The members of the House of Representatives are elected by the people and have the responsibility of encouraging popular consent and the Senate is elected by the state legislatures. The executive branch consists of the president, who has the power to receive international ambassadors, negotiate treaties with acceptance of the Senate, and appoint major personnel.
I believe that Americans should be required to vote. Compulsory voting allows everyone to have a say about who they think is fit in the government. It allows the polls to be more accurate and the number of votes increase. Required voting allows those who can 't or don 't have time to make it the day or time off work. Requiring people to vote is like a boss requiring his employees to get to work on time, it 's short and easy but also important and effective.
These were the Legislative branch, the Executive branch, and the Judicial Branch. The Legislative branch is headed by Congress. This includes the Senate and the House of Representatives. Their main duty it so compose the laws.
Resulting in deaths of black people of all ages. The stereotypes that portray black people as dangerous and savage has persisted decades after its creation and now more than ever even though its results aren’t the same and slavery has been abolished black people continue to suffer the consequences in various forms. From being afraid of black people because they seem suspicious, to believing that the victim of this whole situation are the dangerous ones when in reality they were part of such vile and very well planned atrocity to cover the real criminals of taking over the world. I am of course not saying that white people are all criminals and do not intend to say that whites are the ones that should be suffering all the misfortunes that black
Australia is a Democracy Never before have there been so many democracies in the world or so many competitive elections conducted at national, subnational and region levels. Democracy is now prescribed as inseparable from good governance and an antidote to corruption. The key aspects of what makes Australia a democracy being the electoral role, Australian Electoral Commission (AEC), referendumsm, the rule of law The separate colonies of Australia gained self-government during the nineteenth century and less than half a century later Australia became the first nation to vote itself into existence through popular referendum. How does Australia’s democracy in today’s modern age stack up on those early days of a fledgling democracy.
Although most individuals whom were granted the rights to vote saw it as extremely positive change in all aspects, there were few who viewed the concept of voting as chaotic concept , they stated that “The tendency of the universal suffrage is to jeopardize the rights of the property and the principles of liberty.” (Doc B) everyone have the right to
The government would have three branches; a legislature, an executive, and a judiciary. The legislative branch would be composed of the House and Senate (Congress). The legislative branch would be responsible for making all laws, declaring war, regulating interstate and foreign commerce and controlling taxing and spending policies. The executive branch would be composed of the President, his or her advisors and various other departments.
In a large republic, the weaker parts of government are strengthened and the stronger parts of the government are weakened. Due to the fact of the legislative branch inherently being the most powerful, the Constitution imposed this branch being separated to the Senate and the House of Representatives with each separation having different criteria. These branches are also separated from each other because they all have different election methods. The executive branch has its elections differently from that of the legislative branch which includes the Senate and House of Representatives. The judicial branch and the Supreme Court are also
