Sustainability Sustainability is defined by google as: - The quality of not being harmful to the environment or depleting natural resources, and thereby supporting long-term ecological balance: Examples of sustainable projects are - Solar powered houses - Electricity creating Wind turbines - Green production Sustainability is putting systems into place that are long term and can sustain itself. It does not harm the environment and does not depend on natural resources. Implementing a sustainable system in a CSR scenario is instead of having to employ teachers to teach in poor areas, train and develop teachers from the poor areas so that they can teach their communities themselves. KFCs code of ethics applies to their CSR projects as they are providing people with food, so they need to ensure that the food the people are supplied with is up to standard and meets standards of PETA. They also need to ensure that they conduct the project in an ethical manner with helpers intentions correctly placed. With the Add Hope project KFC needs to ensure that they are transparent and implement sustainability. They also need to apply the projects with the implications of Good Corporate Governance. They need to take their processes, shareholders and legislation into account when making decisions. Human Rights also need to considered as even the people under the poverty line has them. For example when they are coaching children in the Mini Cricket project, discrimination may not occur due to race, sex or religion but everyone should be regarded as equal. Conclusion KFC is impacting Hunger on a large scale and they are complying with all regulations. They do implement Triple bottom line reporting and are acting in professional and ethical manners.
