When I went to interview one of my co-workers (Andrea Johnson) she was getting excited because she wanted to revive and remember her experience again from her start of her relationship with her husband, 15 years ago. For the past year I have known her and every time I see her pass by my cubicle I see her with a bright smile even if she is having a bad day. As we started our conversation, she told me that her children and husband are her motivation, they change her life completely. Andrea met her husband 15 years ago in a church where she used to attend every Sunday in California. It all started when she first glanced to see him, she smiled to Joseph (her husband) and he smile back, she felt in love at first sight, but there where many obstacles that they had to overcome. …show more content…

Symbolic Interaction defines the role that we present in our society and self. The society and our-self play a role in symbolic interaction theory because it defines who we are, how we interact with others, and how we are expected to act in front of others. In the two relationships symbolic interaction plays a role in their lives because they both need to be able to manage how they act and sometimes they tend have similar personalities. In marriages, the couples tend to have similar personalities because when they see their partner acting a certain way they try to imitate or it just a behavior that they learn from each other. Symbolic Interaction theory plays a role in Andrea’s life because he husband and her try to show an example to their children by being calm, try to solve their problems together, and show respect towards others. In the interview, she said that they both want to show an example to their children so as they grow up they can act the same way with others. Also, in the Almendarez family it plays a major role symbolic interaction theory because they want to establish a good expectation between each other and
