What Might the Literate Arts be Said to be Good for?
There are many ways that the literate arts can be explained, depending on the person and their relationship with the literate arts. For some people, the literate arts can be used as an escape or a way to fit in. For others, it could be a process of making peace or learning who you are. Whatever the relationship may be, each experience with the literate arts is unique.

Rodriguez was at a point where he couldn’t connect to his family fully, correcting them even when he was in grade school. I think when a lot of us are teenagers, there are times when we can’t stand to be around our families and turn to other outlets. Most of these outlets involve the literate arts: reading books where someone’s life is completely different from your own; listening to music; writing poetry. These are all outlets to help you daydream of a place where you belong, or let you get your feelings out.

If I was unable to read or write, I wouldn’t be taking this class in college. I wouldn’t have a job, let alone two. I wouldn’t be able to function in general. Communication is the basis for a society. Our society today has progressed to the point where reading, writing and communication are necessary in our everyday lives. We discuss our laws before writing them out, where we then read our laws. The major religions are written in books.
