Wawasan 2020 or Vision 2020 is a vision introduced by Tun Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia in 1991. The vision requires the nation to achieve a fully developed country by the year 2020. For this reason, nine strategic challenges have been listed out by Tun Mahathir that the Malaysian need to deal with in order to achieve Vision 2020. However, there are only three years left for Malaysia to achieve a self-sufficient industrialized nation but yet until now, Malaysia is still categorized as a developing country. Even though Malaysia is known as one of the fastest growing country in East Asian, Malaysia is yet could not compete with other advance countries such as Singapore, South Korea and Hong Kong in East Asian. There are several factors that affect the development of this country. Notwithstanding, the most significant reason that makes Vision 2020 remains slogan is the problem of corruption in public sector in Malaysia. Their 2015 goals included creating an inclusive environment through awareness and leadership training and increasing women and people of color in leadership roles. In response to their goals, Northrop Grumman redeveloped their employee survey used to measure Northrop Grumman’s efforts at creating an engaging and inclusive environment. The results provided managers insight into more effective ways to address diversity and inclusion among their immediate reports. Future generations have not been overlooked in Northrop Grumman’s diversity goals.

After reviewing Healthy People 2020 goals for maternal, infants, and child I can see that an APN can play many different roles to achieve these goals. The main role of an APN in the primary care setting is of educator, patient’s advocate, and care coordinator. As a primary care provider, an APN plays an important role in health promotion and disease prevention across the life span by supporting and providing needed education and information. APNs also facilitate quality care and provide treatments to improve the quality of life, reduce pain, suffering, and prevent further progress of the disease. There are several ways an APN can help achieve Healthy People 2020 goals for maternal, child and infants health.
