The mistrust and betrayal is real. Throughout the reading, I did not want to believe that Amy and Billy Holcombe had anything to do with Hollands death. The truth came out of the darkness not instantly but slowly revealing the truth of everything and why it happened. It’s so devastating and disturbing of how a woman could even do that to a human being. Holland had feelings and trusted Mrs. Amy. The way she acted through this chapter was so irrational, such as going to meet Widow Glendower, she tempted Holland, and not have any sympathy for Hollands death. For one Amy Holcombe was heart-broken because Billy and her were not able to conceive a child. Not because of Amy, but because of Billy. According to the Doctor, “I can’t find a single live sperm.” (Rash 63). From then on, their world crashed even as a married couple, everything they did was miserable. Amy because she was not able to be like all the other normal women in town and Billy it hurt his pride and was ashamed he could not complete a man’s duty like everyone else. Through human nature people surroundings influence who they become. The main character Amy is a long way from home, she is snatched by a tornado and taken to Oz. Nothing seems right to Amy at the time she gets there. As she goes through many ups and downs she is picked up by the ORDER, a group of the wicked who have joined together to kill Dorothy. Curley’s wife is very lonely and isolated because she is the only female on the ranch and nobody keeps her company, as her husband Curley is always busy. Curley’s wife likes to get the attention of everybody on the ranch. She will dress and act very flirty. She will gain the attention of the ranchers to soothe her loneliness.
