The public school to prison pipeline was examined in the literature review through zero-tolerance policies and the effects it has played on graduation rates. Zero-tolerance policies have dramatically increased students being recommended to the court system according to the literature review. The literature review has shown a need for school districts to examine zero-tolerance policies and the negative effects that it has caused on students. Fran Silverman (2005) discusses students being punished under zero-tolerance and says, “The students were disciplined under their school’s zero tolerance policy and some advocates are saying these codes of conduct have become so strict that schools are turning into criminal justice systems, or worse, jailhouses” (pg. 54). Therefore zero-tolerance policies have not had the outcome that politicians have hoped for and should be examined for the effects that they have had on our students.

The banning of corporate partnerships in school is a substantial debate between thousands of parents and school officials. Corporate partnerships occur in schools across the country in several different ways to make money. An example of a corporate partnership is when schools contain a lot of ads or signs throughout the halls, because of financial purposes. There are multiple suitable opportunities that come with it, but in contrast, there are also some bad opportunities. Some say the corporate influence on kids isn’t healthy for them, because the influence it could have on them, and others say it is appropriate for their kids to see these sponsorships in the real world, at a young age. There is nothing faulty with corporate sponsoring within society, but in a school place it shouldn’t be permitted.
Cesar Chavez has inspirational core values to accept all people, celebrate the community, respect life and the environment, non-violence, innovation, preference to help the most needy, knowledge, sacrifice, service to others, and determination. His first core value to accept all people, I was raised to not judge people based on their race or religion. Being raised this way has made me curious about other peoples backgrounds and cultures. Therefore, during my years in college I would like to spend a semester abroad in order to incorporate myself in another culture and learn as much as possible.

The purpose of education is to improve our thinking which can lead to success. Defining modern schooling and its effectiveness proves to be quite controversial. Based on how the unsatisfactory system is run and the claim that it produces immaturity causes people to start questioning if mandatory schooling is really necessary to achieve an education.
When you are young, the world is supposed to be a beautiful place. It should be inspiring; allowing you to believe you can do anything, as long as you are willing to do the work. Schools are supposed to be the initial place you start to grow. Schools are were your mind is shaped, the place where you began to understand a lot of things, educators were willing to teach you and help build you up ; encouraging you to stay focus, wanting you to continue following your dreams. In recent years, Florida has indeed changed its approach - a 2009 amendment puts more discretion in the hands of school administrators to discipline students. A number of counties have also set up alternative sanctions for infractions - counseling, community service and other rehabilitative programs aim to help students improve their behavior, unlike expulsion, which left students to wander the streets during the day, fall behind on school work and get into even more trouble.
Most kids have parents that will punish them severely if they get in trouble, let alone suspended at school, but what about the kids that don’t? You never know what is going on in a child’s life at home. Sometimes students may act out because they don’t get enough attention at home, or other similar reasons. For example, say two students got into a fist fight at school. Most schools would suspend both students right away. What if one student in the fight had a good home life, his parents punished him, and he never got suspended again, but maybe the other student’s parents did not care, he would just simply get some time off of school, and continue to act out. If all students were talked to about what they did wrong and punished inside of school, there may be a chance to drop the percentage of kids that get in trouble. Yes, it may not be the school’s responsibility to punish the kid, but if they do not and neither do the parents, then who will?
Several cases have been show that some children don’t learn their lesson, so they go into the real world thinking that it is ok to do and learn from legal punishment. “Many educators tend to bend over backwards to give students more breaks than they will ever receive out on the streets of our Society” the authors of “School administration are o lenient” are trying to say that kids are getting to many chances in school and this doesn’t work and our society and people won’t allow for these chances. While they make an outstanding point there are many others ways to prepare are kids from right to wrong so they don’t make these mistakes in life. After 2009-2010 “Texas schools started to turn into schools with professional utilized SRO and security personal, security technology” and know they have more productive schools and less suspensions. This quotes shows us that if we have professional help like disciplinary schools to teach kids the right from wrong and not to make mistakes in life.
Violence is an issue in all schools. School fights have decreased by 51 percent and drug use has decreased by 69 percent (“School Uniforms”). Gangs are one of the leading causes of violence in schools. Gangs can be formed by clothing, like students wearing a certain color or symbol on their shirts. If all students wore school uniforms, there would not be a way for gangs to be formed. Gangs can harass others and cause them to be afraid to come to school, which would lower their attendance and their grades. Bullies also play a big part in school violence.
I want to enter into the field of education because I want to see children succeed. I love to let children know that they can accomplish anything that they put their minds to. I want to enter the field of education because I genuinely have a passion to teach and better every child that I can. I aspire to be a teacher because I want to become a great teacher that kids can look up to. I hope to someday be a teacher that when a child grows up they still remember fondly. I want to teach so that I can create an inclusive classroom environment that is perfect for learning. My goal is to get students excited to learn. I will accommodate to all of my students according to their individual needs. I aspire to be a teacher who respects their students and gets respect back.
