What are three things that do not change with the passage of time? A fire is hot, water is wet, and the wind will blow. These are all things that are constant in the world we live in. No matter the moment in time these things remain unchanged in the way they are percieved. Romeo and Juliet is a relevant work for a person in modern times due to the way it shows love conquers all, families beliefs and actions can effect the way you are perceived by others, and people still make irrational decisions. One way that Romeo and Juliet can relate to modern times is the way it shows that love conquers all. This can be seen where Juliet says, “Deny thy father and refuse thy name! Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn by my love, And I’ll no longer be a Capulet. (Shakespeare 1068). This shows that even though their two families hate each other she still wants to be with him. Even though she knows she would most likely be disowned for loving him. This can be …show more content…
This is shown where Mercutio says, “Tybalt, you ratcatcher, will you walk?” (Shakespeare 1091). Then Tybalt and Mercutio fought, which lead to Tybalt killing Mercutio. Then after Romeo says, “Alive in triumph, and Mercutio slain? Away to heaven respective lenity, and fire-eyed fury be my conduct now! Now, Tybalt, take the “villain” back again” (Shakespeare 1092). Then Tybalt and Romeo fought and Romeo kills Tybalt. The effects of these actions could have caused many problems. If Juliet took it the wrong way it could have caused them to stop seeing each other. She could have seen him as a killer for killing her cousin, but she did not. This can relate to modern times because when ones family does something it can effect you greatly. For example, a celebrity that has a child for instance their children will not ever have a normal life as long as their parents are in the lime
On the day of his wedding, Friar Laurence insisted him to take things slowly, but still, Romeo played a deaf ear to the advice. After the wedding, Romeo got into the fight with Tybalt who is the cousin of Juliet, and killed Tybalt later on for a revenge of his friend Mercutio's death. He did not thoroughly think about the consequences of his impulse actions with his new identity of Juliet’s husband. As the husband of Juliet, he should consider himself as a part of the Capulet family, who should never harm any of the family members. As a result of killing Tybalt, he got banished out of Verona, which triggered the series of irreversible consequence to occur.
“Tybalt, here slain, whom Romeo’s hand did slay./ Romeo, that spoke him fair, bid him bethink/ How nice the quarrel was, and urged withal/ Your high displeasure. All this—uttered/ With gentle breath, calm look, knees humbly bowed—/ Could not take truce with the unruly spleen/ Of Tybalt deaf to peace, but that he tilts/ With piercing steel at bold Mercutio’s breast;/ Who, all as hot, turns deadly point to point,/ And, with a martial scorn, with one hand beats/ Cold death aside and with the other sends/ It back to Tybalt, whose dexterit./ Retorts it. “(Shakespeare 3.2.145-156).
(III.i.78-83) In this scene, Mercutio challenges Tybalt to fight while Romeo tries to get Mercutio to put his sword down.
One of the most famous love stories, Romeo and Juliet, set during the Elizabethan era, is the story of two star-crossed lovers and the great lengths that they go through to show their love for their each other. Contrary to Romeo and Juliet, love emerges in a different way during modern times. Due to evolving times, love is much different today than during the Elizabethan era. Couples today are happier, because couples truly know each other and there are other options if a relationship does not work out.
Romeo and Juliet and Teenagers of today are similar and different because they are teenagers who they live in controlling societies. As a teenager, acceptance is strived for among other peers as well as in society. Amidst other things, society’s view on how life should be and how people should act has changed over time. Because of the changes over time, teenagers have had to keep changing the way they are, act, feel, and speak. Teenagers sometimes feel the need to change who they are and their appearance because of images society gives them of how they should be.
Their own families indifferences causing the death of their own children. Lastly, in Romeo and Juliet, Tybalt bullies Romeo when Romeo does not want to fight. Romeo loves Tybalt but he does not know that so Tybalt calls Romeo “a villain” (3.1, 64). Eventually Tybalt provokes Romeo enough to where they duel and Tybalt dies.
Head Versus Heart In Nick Cassavetes movie, "The Notebook," Allie and Noah exemplify the theme of head versus heart when two people fall in love but are tragically ripped apart by their families. Years later Allie is engaged with another man but falls in love with Noah again. Ultimately, they disobey what their head deems correct, and wind up choosing what their hearts desire. Similarly, Shakespeare uses the same theme of head versus heart in his book, “Romeo and Juliet,” exemplifying how the heart overruled the head.
Free will can cause teens to make both superior and poor decisions, but with factoring in other people’s actions to the situation it can lead to an unintended ending such as death. William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, written in 1597, is about two young “star-crossed lovers” who fall in love and are kept apart by their feuding families. After facing many difficulties they decide to kill themselves so they can be together. According to The Choice is Yours: The Fate of Free Will by Marcelo Gleiser, young teens’ free will can drive them to do unexpected things that affect both themselves, their families, and others around them. Some of Romeo and Juliet’s decisions are based on freedom of choice.
If Romeo and Juliet had done anything differently in life, their love would not have happen. They would not have met. If Romeo hadn’t gone to the party, if he and Rosalina had loved each other, and if the two families haven’t been in a feud everything would have different. Romeo didn’t want to go to the party. His friends made him though.
In the play Romeo and Juliet one of the main characters, Romeo, is a rather impulsive fellow who acts on what he sees and feels. He falls in love in the blink of an eye and just as fast he can get over it. He is always impulsive but when he finds himself in love his impulsiveness doubles. Romeo’s impulsive decisions causes his love, Juliet, to ultimately get killed.
Romeo and Juliet, such a beautiful story/play written by William Shakespeare. For many years people have read William’s story/play, and many people have come up with their own interpretation and made their own version into a movie or play. Such as the movies Romeo and Juliet (1968), Romeo and Juliet (1996), and the play Romeo and Juliet (2014). The two movies and play have many similarities. Of course, all three do the acts of Romeo and Juliet, they all tell the story of the lovers and how their sad story went.
When Tybalt kill Romeo best friend Mercutio Romeo got mad and got revenge by killing Tybalt. Romeo didn’t have to kill Tybalt he could’ve just let the prince deal with him. If Romeo wouldn’t have never
However, because Romeo killed Tybalt, Romeo’s punishment is to be banished from Verona. Romeo creates more complications with his relationship with Juliet, especially right after they got married, in result of slaying Tybalt. There is no possible way for them to contact each other now. This leaves Juliet heartbroken, and risking everything to be with him once again. Being too vindictive and hasty to seek revenge did not allow Romeo to think of the repercussions that would affect his relationship with his
The play Romeo and Juliet has been around since it was written by William Shakespeare in 1595. The themes inferred in this play have stuck around, despite the social changes that society has went through. We watched three different movies on Romeo and Juliet, and each was set in a different time period (1968, 1996, and 2014). They had many things in common and many things different. Some of the things in common was that the Montague’s and Capulet 's did not like each other at all.
