The main purpose of His incarnation is the atonement of us. As in Romans 8:3, Jesus was sent and delegated as Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering, by took the flesh rather than became a flesh. And finally, the flesh has condemned, it fulfill the covenant.
Each part of the trinity reveals a truth. One cannot be whole without comprehending how each part of the trinity helps one come to find their identity. The Son helps restore the relationship that was broken during the fall and brings one, one step closer to repairing a relationship that was broken during the Fall. The Father is the one who establishes one’s purpose in life. While the Holy Spirit reveals one’s talents and abilities along with giving one’ fruits of the Spirit that helps them throughout life to achieve and identify their purpose. The Holy Spirit is usually described as that voice within one’s self that tells them what is good and bad. God lead that man to run into Mr. Searcy where upon he would be introduced into batteries and get involved in the battery industry. While the Holy Spirit allowed him to find the talents and abilities he was equipped with to lead him to his destiny of creating a business that has done such amazing things not just for the customers but also the community. Upon thinking of how the trinity allowed him to achieve his purpose in this life he demonstrated the three primary virtues that all Christians should
Prometheus’s counterpart in the Christian faith is Jesus Christ because they both betrayed someone close to them in order to defend mankind. Prometheus was given instructions from Zeus to create mankind, however, Prometheus did not agree with him. Prometheus decided to make humans superior to animals by giving them fire for protection and making man stand upright just the like gods did. These acts of kindness angered Zeus so ties Prometheus to a rock in the Cascade Mountains. Similar to Prometheus, Jesus was crucified for trying to save mankind by spreading new ideas. Jesus had founded Christianity and was trying to spread his ideas as a new way of life for the people. However, this made the Gospels upset because Jesus had betrayed their
Jesus was also God. Matthew 1:21 states that Mary would have a child she was to call Jesus “because he will save his people from their sins.” He was a prophet and a teacher and he performed miracles. These miracles consisted of raising the dead. This fact shows he was also God since only God can raise the dead. Jesus’ other miracles included making blind people see, curing people with leprosy, turning water into wine, and several others. Jesus taught people to adhere to the commandments and to love one another no matter if they were a sinner or a righteous man. Jesus preached the word of God to his people in the form of parables. He gathered his disciples together to help him preach the word of God and convert people to Christianity. Jesus is different from other humans for the reason that he never sinned. He never sinned because he was God’s son sent to sacrifice himself for the sins of humans. During Jesus’ life, non-Christians became upset with him for preaching that he was the Messiah. Pilate charged Jesus with blasphemy and sentenced him to hang on the cross until death. The Romans whipped and tortured Jesus and he had to carry his cross to Golgotha (Renan, 1864), where he was nailed down to it and then it was raised. After he died, the Romans removed Jesus’ body from the cross and allowed the Jews to bury him in a tomb. After three days, his body had vanished and he appeared before his disciples as proof of his resurrection. Jesus’
In “A More Perfect Union” by Barack Obama, Obama builds an argument that the Constitution promises us freedoms and rights but it is not always as simple as that. We need to fight, protest, and demand our rights so that we come together as one and become equal. He uses Aristotle’s rhetorical triangle, logos, ethos, and pathos to strengthen the speech.
Saint Athanasius spent over seventeen years being banned from his own country by four different emperors. There were many great theologians and Church fathers, but Athanasius was one of the most important Church Fathers in ecclesiastical history. Saint Athanasius of Alexandria was born in 293. He was a theologian, ecclesiastical statesman, and a leader of Egypt. He had a lot of enemies, and defended against heresies. He studied philosophy and theology in Alexandria. Athanasius succeeded Bishop Alexander when he died in 328, and during his first few years in office he went to places like Libya and Egypt, and he got important contacts with Monks while there. In between this time, he was exiled many times, but returned home for a few years of
An Evening of eschatology was hosted by John Piper in 2007 September, 27 as one primer goal: Discussion about the millennium. At that night John Piper invited three
People argue rather than assent to the fact that because they believe in the trinity, they are polytheistic; but insist that they are all the same and that portrays that they are monotheistic. Therefore, they remain by the eyes of the world, a monotheistic religion. The only Christian deity known today, goes by the name of God, the Father. It is believed that he is the one who created the universe, knows everything, and is everywhere. Jesus is recognized as the Son of God, and was sent to save mankind from death and sin after being executed during crucifixion and rising at the Resurrection. He died on the Cross; it is believed that those that believe in him, will be forgiven for all of their
God wanted to show man that he too can sacrifice and suffer; therefore he sent Jesus down to dwell among man to show man that God can be flesh. Jesus differs from man in that, he is the word of God and was sent by God as an example of himself for man. Jesus did not have the same flaw of curiosity as man had. Jesus was able to teach and spread God’s word without doubting its context. Jesus was believed to be the Messiah that the people of Israel wanted to free them from slavery. The textbook says, “This coming deliverer was referred to as the Messiah, which means "anointed one." Messiah is the Hebrew term that is the basis for the term Christ, as in Jesus Christ. In the Old Testament, kings were anointed. When the New Testament refers to Jesus as Christ, it is not referring to Jesus’ surname but to Jesus’ title as messiah, as king.” (Diffey, 2015)Jesus was believed to be the Son within the Holy Trinity: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is also seen as the Word of God in which all this were created. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” John 1:1-3 (The Holy Bible: The New International Version, n.d.) Jesus was put on earth to dwell amongst man and spread the teachings of God. He was also sent to die for our sins and when he was resurrected, he did so to erase all the sins of
C.S. Lewis, a christian apologist writer wrote Mere Christianity in the nineteen-forties during world war two. Lewis wrote Mere Christianity in attempt to bring together a “common ground” of truths for the core of the Catholic Church’s beliefs. Mere Christianity shows readers logical ways of understanding the Catholic faith and he is presenting this central idea to help comprehend such ideas. The preface of Lewis’s Mere Christianity sets forth his ideas and arguments. Lewis is trying to convince readers his argument is credible and trustworthy, he is trying to get readers to understand his positioning and he is trying to give a sense of clarity. The preface shows Lewis’ goals when writing this argument; it shows how Lewis wanted so badly to express Christian unity no
In the essay, “E-Prime: The True, the Beautiful, the Devine,” Ron W. Wheeler convincingly conveys that, “Judiciously controlling the use of English Prime offers communicators an efficient and effective tool for revision to powerfully express the actual, the artistic, and the eternal.” Writing in E-Prime involves the removal of am, is, are, was, were, be, being, and been, also known as “to be” verbs, from written and oral communication. Thus, argued by Wheeler, creating overall stronger communication.
Glory be to our Lord Christ Jesus! A pleasant good day to each and every one of you, who have graced us with your presence throughout our process of grief; we (Randolph’s family) want you to be cognizant that your noble efforts have not gone unseen and they are very much appreciated. We promulgate high accolades to the NYPD officers, Senator, Governor, and Mayor for their continual support and deeds of altruism. As it pertains to Randolph, our beloved, our beloved Randolph! He was a person that everyone who knew him could attest of him being dependable and enduring of fulfilling most of his promises; he was a person of quiet resolve (inner strength). Make no mistake of this quietness, in no way does it represents timidnes, however, on the
Christianity explains salvation as redemption by God’s grace through faith from unrighteousness and sins to Cleanliness, also known as Salvation. The Bible explores salvation in different perspectives including reconciliation, redemption, ransom, forgiveness, and justification. Even though the Bible is a unitary book, the new and the old testaments present salvation in different aspects. However, the different aspects are complementary. In fact, the Old Testament presents many prophesies about salvation that was fulfilled in the New Testament (Kärkkäinen 87).
Today, as we find ourselves in the twenty first century, our problem with poverty still exists and appears to be getting worse. Cities are continuing to grow to max capacities, hunger rings clear throughout the world, natural resources are depleted everyday due to over use, causing a degradation of our environment and billions of individuals do not claim Yahweh as their God. These are the occurrences on this planet on an everyday day cycle. There appears to be more focus on selfishness and the everyday rather than living in community with others. Plain and simple, poverty is serious and we must get to the root of it. However, Ash Barker believes we can maintain a prosperous planet once again by looking to the entire biblical narrative and
Everyone knows the gospels are very important to the Catholic Church, But why? We read them at mass every Sunday so they must have a deeper meaning. Well that’s just it. They teach about Jesus’ life on earth, his death and resurrection. They might differ from each other but that is because they were written by four different authors. They’re Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Some of his most trusted apostles. The gospels inform us on Jesus teaching and life. This is why we know the correct way we should live our lives and how to achieve the ultimate goal, heaven.
