As a medical assistant or practitioner it part of our job to help maintain a safe and healthy clinical office for coworkers and for patients. When understanding how to keep our clinical environment clean we demonstrate comprehension on how infections may be transmitted from person to person. A way to understand how infection are transmitted is understanding the five major types of infectious agents. The reservoir host is the beginning of what makes up the cycle of infection. A microorganism is capable of causing diseases, this also known as a pathogen, is what begins with a host. The reservoir host is any living thing that is capable of sustaining growth of a pathogen such as a human, animal and/or an insect. Allowing this microorganism to invade any of the bodies, it can cause an infection to the body …show more content…
After the pathogen has infected, the next step is the “means of exit”. The mean of exist are different ways in which the pathogen is able to leave the recent body. The common routes in which this pathogen is allowed to leave are, ear, mouth, even nose. Also the reproductive tract plays a role when the pathogen want to leave. Open wounds are another common route in which the pathogen may exit. Direct and indirect transmission are two means of transmission in which is also known as another step of the cycle of infection the “means of transmission.” Indirect transmission allows the pathogen to exist independently from the host. Blood borne, foodborne, airborne, vector borne, transmission during pregnancy or birth are all indirect transmission. Direct transmission includes transmission of touch. A pathogen leaves the current host to enter another host in order to continue the cycle of infection this is called the “means of entrance.” The mean of entrance follows the same route when
TASK 2 Infectious diseases are the invasion of host organisms, (microbes) which can be invisible to the eyes. The microbes are also known as pathogens. A microbe infects an organism (which is known as the host of the microbe). In a human host, the microorganism causes a disease by either disrupting an important body process or by stimulating the immune system to mount a defensive reaction. The pathogen, interferes with the normal functioning of the host and can lead to chronic wounds, gangrene, loss of an infected limb, and even death.
Which of the following infectious agents are commonly involved in HAIS MRSA VRE P. aeruginosa Rotavirus Influenza flu E. coli 4. Can you mention at least 5 pathogens most commonly isolated in your hospital? 5. Which populace is more susceptible to HAIs and which is the ordinary source of HAIs
When a virus meets a host cell, it injects its genetic material into its host, taking over the host’s
This disease’s transmission would be spread through bodily fluid, sexual contact, blood and semen and even material contact too.. It can be transmitted very easily and very consolidated to contain. A perfect representation of this topic would be when a nurse had gotten the Ebola symptoms from taken care of a Ebola patient, Thomas Duncan. The nurses name is Nina Pham and she got a transfusion from a Ebola survivor and it seemed to work very well. Even though she was stricken with such a deadly disease, she was more worried about her King Charles Spaniel named Bentley, who also had a potential health risk to the community.
The last one is the septicemia plague, it spreads through the bloodstream. It comes from infected fleas or infected
This specific bacteria attacks the lymph system causing the infection to spread throughout the body. The reservoirs of this bacteria and disease are mice, rats, squirrels and other small animals. A reservoir is a host of an infection. The vector, meaning carrier, is insects such as fleas and
These examples demonstrated different types of situations that would emerge when a virus breaks out. There are many ways to prevent a virus from spreading as well as many other factors that contribute it to infect people. With this in mind with enough resources and knowledge about medical treatment, a virus outbreak can be
The disease spreads through the interaction of susceptible and infected. We assume that only a fraction of this interaction causes the disease to pass from an individual ( I) to a susceptible individual (S.) So the rate of change of S is proportional to the product of S and I. We assume that the individuals recover at a rate of β so the period of infection is 1 days. The only way a person can leave the susceptible β group is to become infected.
SAFETY IN THE NURSING PROFESSION It is the belief of many medical professionals that proper safety protocols in the medical environment is paramount. There is nothing more important in a hospital setting than overall safety. This goes for both patient safety as well as the safety of the hospital staff. Both patient and staff have their own precautions that must be taken and steps that must be followed to ensure there are no mishaps.
Thesis statement: A medical assistant does both an administrator and health care professional duties. I chose this thesis statement because I’m going to school for medical assistant. It is very important that u know the role of your job field. As a medical assistant u have to check blood pressure, take temperature and you have to be able to deal with sick and non-sick people. Here is some examples of administrative and clinical procedures: greeting patients and answering telephones, booking and canceling appointments.
•The influenza infection is extremely infectious: When a contaminated individual coughs, wheezes or talks, respiratory droplets are produced and transmitted into the air, and can then can be breathed in by someone close-by. •A person who touches something with the infection on it and afterward touches his or her mouth, eyes or nose can get to be contaminated. •An influenza pandemic, for example, the one in 1918, happens when a particularly harmful new flu strain for which there 's practically no immunity shows up and spreads rapidly from individual to-individual around the world.
There are three common forms of the plague: The Bubonic, spread by direct flea bites, the Septimic, in which the bacteria directly enter the bloodstream, and the Pneumonic, in which the virus is inhaled into the lungs. The three branches of the disease gave it the versatility to spread faster and become even more
As a Medical Assistant, it is my duties to act professionally, be very knowledgeable about my jobs, and make sure that I serve the public with an ethical obligation to the needs of all. A medical assistant must show good manners and politeness to all people, respecting other people beliefs and rights. As a Medical assistant discrimination of another race, gender or age is unacceptable, and the patient's best interest must be your first priority. A Medical Assist must display professionalism such as demonstrate ethical behavior, adapt to change, work as a team member, manage stress and maintain confidentiality. A Medical Assistant needs to apply communication skills for example: treat all patients with Empathy and Impartially.
Hand washing or isolation of the sick persons with infections in the prevention of hospital acquired infections. 5. Does the use of hand washing, and antisepsis lower the rate of hospital acquired infections? The fifth PICOT question is selected because of the reported low compliance percentage among medical caregivers.
Bacteria that causes disease are called pathogens. The disease is caused by a poison called exotoxin and endotoxin produced by the bacteria. Another microbial life are protist. They are unicellular eukaryotes. Types of protist includes protozoans and slime molds.
