The industrial revolution had a lot of positives as well as negatives. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily negative consequences for society because the long work hours but, it was actually a positive thing for society. Industrialization’s positive effects were that it actually created jobs, and creations of machines made easier for people to work. Having long work hours is fun for no one. In the industrial revolution that was actually quite common. Moms and dads where unable to see there kids, parents had to work in the factories in order to make ends meet because of little money they where making. “Before dawn my labor drives me forth…” (Document 2). Even though she’s worn out from the previous workday, she has to wake up and go to work. This gives her no time to see her kids because they will most likely be sleeping. “Tis night when I am free” (Document 2). This goes to show that she had very long hours. She went to work before dawn and didn’t get …show more content…
Going to San Francisco from New York City took only six days. Before the railroads, the trip took months” (document 5). The machines like the steam engine made it easier to get from one place to another. Inventions like that made it a lot easier for people to go visit other family members. “The photo” (document 3). Shown in the picture, you can see that exports outpaced imports and the factory created jobs in the community. Where ever there was a factory that’s where people wanted to live, so that also caused a population boost. “The picture” (Document 3). You can tell from the picture that they seem to have better sewage. Better sewage or any sewage was a huge plus; when they didn’t have a sewage system it stunk and you had contaminated water and you could possibly die. Although these are some positives form the industrial revolution, there are countless
The Industrial Revolution brought awful working conditions to those who worked in factories and elsewhere. Working conditions for adults and kids were drudgery. “I am at work in a spinning room tending four sides of warp which is one girl’s work” (Document 1) People were expected to do hard work each day no less. If there was a break it was limited, people were not treated fairly. Breaks were ideally rare in majority of the jobs.
Little or lack of education is a primary negative to the industrial revolution. An example is “C: what are your hours of labor in the mills? B: From 5 in the morning till 9 at night, when they were thronged” (Document 9). This is an example of a child at work at 5am till 9pm instead of being at school. This is bad because young kids need an education at least 12 years.
Things such as environmental degradation, exploitation of the workforce, inequality of income, and overcrowding were the result of industrialization time. This revolution brought out the weaknesses in many countries when it came to the poverty or wealth of people, leaving a small amount of the population in the middle of those 2 extremes. Document 2 states, “Generally speaking, the strength or weakness of a country is dependent on the wealth or poverty of its people, and the people's wealth or poverty derives from the number of available products.” This quote explains how the industrial period is connected to people and the country's stability. Factors like unequal income and exploitation of their workforce play a major role in the growth of the country’s development.
Environmental damage, exploitation of workers, and overpopulation in cities are all negative effects of American Industrialization. American Industrialization had many effects come out of it, both positive effects and negative effects. The positive effects of Industrialization are that it made work cheaper, employed thousands of workers, and improved people’s daily lives.
The Industrial Revolution, lasting from the late 1700s until the early 1900s, was possibly one of the greatest time periods in this world’s history. This time period caused people to think more and dream bigger. From these big dreams rose up inventors, entrepreneurs, and business owners. The Industrial Revolution brought many new inventions and production processes, but along with great new things come great terrible horrors. While some might argue that Industrialization had primarily positive consequences for society because of the new production methods and what they produced, it was actually a negative thing for society.
he Industrial Revolution overall had a positive effect on happiness in the workplace, village space, and resources for workers. The first example that shows it was positive is that the children were happy and had never been beaten in work. According to the 3rd document it says “They seemed to always be cheerful and alert” this tells me that it was positive because the children never got beat and they were always happy and cheerful to be at work which could cause better work ethic. Another positive thing is that in the village they were given more places to stay and they were fed and clothed.
The industrial revolution took place in the 18th century and carried into the 19th century. During these times, more and more machines were introduced to replace labor by hand. Daily life was improved for thousands of people across the country. But along with these new machines came many negatives, as well as positives. In the following paragraphs, these examples will be listed.
The release of harmful gases into the air from factories pollutes the world 's air, doing harm to the environment, further leading to global warming. Then, though it did boost many job opportunities, the living condition of the workers during the industrialization were poor. Company towns owned by business were rented out to employees. The owners forced them to live in isolated communities near workshops and forced them to buy goods with high interests. The cities were poorly constructed and crowded with people and residents.
Effects of the Industrial Revolution The Industrial Revolution was an important event in history. It brought about many positives during its time. For instance, kids were well fed, educated, and clothed. There were plenty of negatives, as well. One very sad example was the machine injuries that happened to both children and adults.
The results of industrialism led to many positive, such as the many new advancements, and negative effects, including the hardships and burdens placed on the people, but the hardships the people gained outweighed the positive effects. Even though the Industrial Revolution had further advanced how they could use technology to their benefit, it was not worth it because of the pain it caused within the workers and the people who lost their work because of new factories. While factories created success for the capitalist and factory owners, it also created great trouble. Such a how the new spinning
In the mid-1700s, a series of innovations in work and transportation technology caused a dramatic change in the way people lived their lives forever. This period of time came to be known as the Industrial Revolution, which was a critical moment in history. With this revolution came both great benefits and heavy drawbacks - job opportunities appeared and profits were made, but lives were lost and communities were damaged. Based on the effects of the Industrial Revolution, the process of industrialization overall improved nations - though it somewhat ruined the quality of life that the citizens of those nations once possessed, it boosted worldly economic growth tremendously.
The mMajority of people inon a rural areas had to migrate to the urban areas for employmentaiming for a job. This movement and, urbanization, was one of the negative effects that occuredwas issued during the Industrial Revolution. The citizens could not handle their own lives nor the overpopulated land. Their working conditions were very poor, “ Factories were not the best places to work. The only light present was the sunlight that came through the windows.”
A major debate among Historians is if the Industrial Revolution was helpful or harmful. The industrial revolution created a big change in the society of America. It was an age of innovation and creativeness for the inventors of the world. It was an age of sorrow and despair for the workers of the world.
When we discuss modernity, and all the advances and strides humankind has made in recent history, the industrial revolution has to be considered as one of the most imperative moments in history. The industrial revolution can be defined as the movement from Agriculture based economy to an industry based economy through the development of machinery and industry in Great Britain from late 18th century to early 19th century. In this essay I shall be specifically looking at the industrial revolution in England. I hope to explain the industrial revolution’s effect on England economically and socially. When attempting to derive the effects of the industrial revolution, it’s imperative to take a brief look at Britain before it and why the revolution
After the Enlightenment and the revolutionary period, ideas were combined, and new ones were formed. Capitalism, democracy, and social mobility became more than just ideals enlightenment thinkers had. Agriculture and labor changed especially. This period of changes was called the industrial revolution. Despite the negative impacts of industrialization, such as pollution and the poor living conditions people suffered in slums, there were many overall successes.
